Minka Aire (Ceiling Fan) Questions & Answers
How do I reverse direction on my minka aire f569
I've got a couple of Minka aire ceiling fans in the home I moved into. The larger one didn't have a problem switching directions using the button on the remote. The smaller one I couldn't get it to switch direction with the remote but in a post above someone mentioned fiddling with the on-off wall switch. So I played around a bit holding down the remote switches for fan speed and reverse direction and flipping the wall switch off and on again and after a couple of tries the fan reversed direction, so thanks for the tip!
I recently bought a house
The reversing in a single phase AC motor is done by switching the flow of current thru the starting coil. For that to happen both ends of the coil must be accessible on the outside of the motor.
Unfortunately the motor in this fan doesn't have that so there is no way to install a reverse switch on it without extensive modifications on the motor: it will have to be opened, the starting coil identified, the captive end unsoldered from the main connector to which it is attached and extracted outside. From there the ends will have to be soldered on a special relay and wiring that would have to be inserted besides the usual wiring of the fan. From there a special command wire will have to be sent to the remote receiver board that you would have to insert it there also. To put it simply: the labor (which must be done by a pro) would cost more than a new fan.
So if you need a fan with reverse then just buy one: it will be way easier, faster and cheaper than to retrofit this one.

Its not be the motor, there is something coming in the way thats why you are getting that sound, Just disassembling and assembling back the components will help you to fix the problem.
I bought and had installed a Minka Aire Ultra Max
A lot of fans have a clicking noise if they have a chain hanging down and the balance is not perfect and the fan wiggles a little. It will only happen at certain speeds that are "resonant" where the swinging can build up. The pull chain then makes the noise as it hit the case.
It does not operate; unsure if it is an
To find out if it is electrical have may have to take the ceiling cover off to get to the wires and check them with a multi meter to see if there is power going to the fan. If there is no power to the fan then you have to go to the switch (if the fan is on a wall switch) and check for power to the switch. If it is no on a wall switch then it could be in the switch on the fan itself and you might be able to get to the fan switch by taking the housing apart from the center of the fan to check power from the fan switch to the fan motor. A quick check would be to pull the ceiling cover down and getting to the black and white or blue wires and using a multi meter to ohm the wires to check to see if the problem is in the fan itself if it doesn't show any ohms the power wires are open in the fan somewhere which could be the motor or the switch.
Glass light cover causes buzzing
One possible reason why the glass light cover causes buzzing is that it is vibrating against the fan blades or other parts of the fan. This could be due to a loose fit or a manufacturing defect. One way to test this theory is to remove the glass cover and turn the fan on to see if the buzzing noise stops.
If the buzzing noise does stop, you could try adding some padding or cushioning to the glass cover or the parts it rests against to reduce vibration. You could also try tightening any screws or bolts that secure the glass cover to ensure a snug fit.
Another possibility is that there is an issue with the fan motor or electrical components. In this case, it may be best to contact the manufacturer or a professional electrician or repair technician to diagnose and fix the problem.
