SC542 is a Fuser error code. It's a "fusing temperature warm-up error", basically meaning that the hot roller in the fuser did not reach the proper operating temperature within an allotted time period.

In order to clear this error, you would need to go into the service mode of the copier, then into the "System SP" section, and then power down the machine using the ORANGE ROCKER SWITCH located under the clear cover in the upper left corner of the FRONT DOOR..

Most likely it is time to have the machine serviced. Generally this happens when the hot roller has become worn, causing melted toner to stick to the roller and/or thermistors (temp sensors) that touch the roller surface. The hot roller, and other main components in the fuser, have a rated service life of 300K copies/prints.

One other possibility is that the paper you are using is too dusty. These machines have had issues with buildup on the sensors that is caused by a mixture of the paper dust and the silicone lubricant that is applied to the roller via the cleaning web. There has been a few service bulletins with regard to the build-up problem. There have been a number of part changes and setting adjustments to help combat this.

System settings
Interface
Touch the tab IPv4 and specify the IP and Sub-net Mask
Press ok to save that settings and press the tab bellow to set the Gateway.
Press ok and your configuration is set.

SC552 is a fusing thermistor error. Thermistor is in the fuser section. This code is for the END thermistor. You can also try to just reset the code. Enter the SP mode (service program) by entering the following keys.
CLEAR MODES, 1 0 7 and hold the CLEAR STOP key down till the maintenance screen appears. Press COPY SP on the touch panel then turn OFF the MAIN POWER SWITCH then turn it back on and see if it clears. NOTE: The "MAIN POWER SWITCH" is of the left side of the machine, NOT the top right side.

You can't. As I said you need the service engineer with the laptop. These Office Machines are NOT consumer serviceable. They hook up the laptop with the Ricoh software and it interrogates the computer, the mainboard and everything on it. Hello Christopher Are you in the Philippines? I notice that your copier has changed from Ricoh to Gestetner? We are a North American website. This is a commercial office machine, and from my experience of them is that on the right side you will see on the inside, a list of instructions for where to check for obstructions. It seems you have already done this 8 times! Frustrating! Try this; Open the right side cover, unlatch all the bits at that side. Open the straight pass door on the left side. remove ALL the paper drawers. Get a powerful flashlight, look in all the spaces you have just created, especially at the edges of drawers and paper pathways. You are looking for a tiny piece of paper that one of your employees carelessly left behind after a paper jam.The one I found was right at the back of the straight pass door. When a sensor is covered, it creates that message. If that fails, Ricoh will have to come and attach their Laptop scan software to it which will tell which sensor is obstructed or has failed.
