Tappan electric wall-oven always says off ????
Check that one of the two hot wires is not losing power due to bad connection. This needs to be checked clear from the breaker to the terminal in the oven. Loss of one side of the 240 volts may still allow the clock to work as long as no other element is on.
OFTEN the connection of to the plug in the wall is bad... IT IS ALSO a fire hazard.
REMEMBER to turn off the breakers when working on this!

The top burners don't light
Make sure your getting power to 120V receptacle that oven is plugged into first, by testing receptacle with a lamp or something. Breaker may have tripped, but if clock & lamp in oven working, then power should be o.k. If all o.k. there, lift stove top & check all small wires for proper connections, and back to main module.

Oven does not light
Try this:
. See if the ignitor is in the direct path of the gas. If not move it slightly to be closer to that path. Maybe something his it and it is out of position. Gas + Glow(together) = Fire
The other possibility is that somethng in in the path of the gas leading to the glow coil.

Tappan Electric Oven
I have a Tappan double oven range. An older model #316065301
How do I operate the cleaning cycle? I set the start and stop times, Locked the door and switched to clean. The clean light comes on but it doesn't heat up much at all. Never locks. I have misplaced my instructions manual.
Any help would be appreciated.

Burners and oven will not heat
Something is stopping the gas flow. Turn off gas. Disconnect line from the stove have someone turn on and off the the gas just for a second.(make sure no flame in room). See if gas is available. If not it is the gas line leading into the house somewhere, not the stove. Follow the piping to the first thng it comes to. Disconnect that line and see if it is open from there back to the connection. If you finally get to the valve, which I dont think you will . You will have to disassemble or replace it.
