Have you checked the brightness and contrast settings? If these are turned to zero, the picture will not appear. This is not the only solution but one of many and the only one I am familiar with.

Most everything is digital now. There are very few analog OTA stations left. If you do not have a analog station nearby then the t.v. will not pick anything up.

if it comes out both side of tv then connection to bar is a problem.

I check GPX D1816 - DVD player Specifications but didn't see an Ethernet or wireless connection(so you can stream down video). If it did then you can use RCA/HDMI cable to connect this to a TV.

You can't unless you can come by some region free reset software. Try google.com and type your player type then add the words "region free" and see what pops up.

Check and replace the laser pickup unit. It is faulty.
