Get a bottle of "dishwasher magic" at your local store run the dishwasher per the instructions on the hottest cycle possible. Most likely you just have a build up of debris and soap in the machine this will clean it out. Use only powdered soap and do not use too much in the future. If this does not work the you may not be getting enough water in the machine or the water may not be hot enough. Would need further inspection/information to correctly diagnose the problem at that point.

Either:

1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.

Hi, You don't necessarily need a motor, a couple of things could be to blame. It may be debris in the sump well or the chopper assemblies on those can become worn and break loose from the motor. Either of these things can certainly make your normally quiet dishwasher very loud. If you feel capable pull the sump cover off and inspecf it ( youtube has great "how to" video's ) or if you don't feel comfortable doing this, it may justify paying a service person to check, but I wouldn't be too quick to right it off. This is a common issue with some Whirlpool manufactured dishwashers. This information may help in your situation. The following link explains how you may be able to clear the blinking clean light problem:

Now, keep in mind all dish washers are not alike and have different panel options. If you do not have the same set up that I have mentioned, the tech sheet for your dishwasher will explain the touch pad functions. The tech sheet is located behind the lower toe panel under the door and lists the proper sequence of buttons to push for diagnostics and troubleshooting.

NOTE: Sometimes the tech sheet is located behind the inner door panel. You will need to remove the screws securing the inner panel to access it if this is the case. Make sure you turn off the main power breaker before doing so.

Sometimes this can be a momentary glitch in operation. However, if the problem keeps reoccuring the number of flashes is an indication of which circuit is causing your problem. Again, refer to your tech sheet to determine this.

Your pump is clogged.

Remove racks and inspect pump at the bottom center of dishwasher. Remove pressure arms.and clean out debris from tips.

Remove screen and cover to impeller and wet vac out all the grunge, especially plastic and glass pieces.

My plan was to see if I could find you a service manual, but strangely, the only reference to that model number is your post here! My guess is the D6 is 'D for Dishwasher' and 'Series 6' or 6 models in that current series. If the machine has been laid up or little used, check all the connection on the control board.
