1 of my sx700 is not responding

I would suggest taking the radios back to a very basic programming with the interference eliminator set to zero or off, and any special features shut off. This would enclude Qt filter, call tones, iVox/Vox, vibra call, keypad tones, roger beep, enhanced scan, weather, etc. Set both radios to the same frequency and see if they work. If not, try switching the rechargeable battery from one radio to the other. Does the problem move to the other radio? If so, you need a battery. If neither of these helps, you likely need to replace the radio.User guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage-new/manuals/Moto/SX700.pdfBest regards.

What is the range

Typically most handheld radios have a range of 2 miles line-of-sight. However, obstacles between the two radios can significantly reduce range. On a cruise ship you may not be able to talk through multiple floors. To increase your range be certain to have fully charged or fresh batteries, and also hold the antenna upright, perpendicular to the earth.

How do I set my

Hands-Free Use With Accessories (VOX)
You can transmit hands-free with the use of optional accessories. Once
VOX is turned on, the radio detects your voice and transmits when you
speak.
1. Turn the radio off and plug the VOX accessory into the accessory
port.
2. Turn the radio on. VOX shows on the display.
3. Adjust the volume appropriately by rotating the volume knob . Lower the volume
before placing the accessory on your head or in your ear.
4. To turn off, simply remove accessory.
Note: There is a short delay between the time you start talking and
when the radio transmits. There is a short delay before the
transmission is completed.

Owners Manual: http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/SX700_userguide.pdf

You must be using a VOX capable accessory. Generally this is an accessory without an in-line PTT.

Motorola talkabout sx700

Check your "code" setting. You may be on the same channel, but different codes. The code is the smaller number. Check your owners manual if you have one for resetting the radio to the factory default settings. This will clear any programming issues.

SX700 and T5522 talkabouts

Hello Walvis,

Based on a quick web search the Motorola SX700 appears to be a Family Radio Service unit for use in the USA and the Motorola T5522 appears to be PMR446 radio for use in the UK. While the radios are similiar, they don't operate on the same frequencies so they won't be able to communicate with eachother. Because both FRS and PMR446 are very similiar, Motorola often markets versions of the same radio (with slightly different model numbers) for each service.

Best Regards,
Ken

Receing and transmiting

Hello TSAworker,

I would definitely recommend against leaving the radio turned on while it is sitting in the charger. This can damage the radio and it can also contribute to decreasing the lifetime of the battery pack as well.

Whether or not the problems you are experiencing are related to leaving the radio turned on while it is charging is hard to say. I would recommend that you start by swapping the battery from the working radio into the non working one. If the problem is the battery, this should allow you to determine that and you can just simply get a replacement battery pack.

If the battery isn't the problem then the radio probably has a hardware problem that would require service. Given how affordable these kinds of two-way radios are, you are probably going to be better off just purchasing a replacement at that point.

Best Regards
Ken

I have a pair of Motorola MS350 radios. 1 works fine but one does not receive or transmit. I have both radios set up the same.

If your frequency and code are set the same, you have either a battery problem or a radio problem. For a quick battery test, swap the battery pack from the good radio into the one with the problem and see if the problem moves. Then you will know if it is simply the battery. If both settings are identical and the battery swap does not solve the problem, you have a defective radio.

I need help to dismantle a motorola radius sp10 2 way radio

Remove the battery, slip a small screw driver into the slot at the bottom of the radio between the outer housing and the battery tray, gently pry up. If your radio has a pair of battery contacts on the exterior they will come up with the tray. Be gentle, and do not disturb the Mylar ribbon that runs down the back of the tray. Once the tray is removed, using a frame removal tool (shaped like a squared letter U) you slip the tool in the channels on either side of the radio where you removed the battery tray. Then slide the tool upward until it meets the two plastic ears. The tool will slip under the ears and using your tool you can push the component board out the top of the housing. If your radio has an 8-dip-switch private line board, you may want to watch you do not damage or dislodge it in the process.
