Netgear wireless router has no lights after power

On the router, you will see some sort of ventilation for the air to pass try smelling from there and if you smell anything the smells like burnt plastic or rubber then the device itself is burned from inside because of the power outage, however, this is extremely rare case scenario I doubt it will burn like that so easily, and do perform the same step on the power source adapter of the router because in many cases it is the power source that gets burn and not the device. After that perform some troubleshooting steps check if the power chord connected to the router is properly connected also please check the power outlet with other electronic devices to see if the outlet is working. I am not sure but I am assuming that it is the power adapter that got damage and not the router. Let me know if any issues.

Yes proxy server not responding is most common problem : Go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections. How to install netgear wnr834b without cd

It depends on the ISP:If it's DSL (verizon, att, centurylink, etc)then you will need dsl login and password credentials. (PPPoE or PPPoA)some others dont require it (DHCP) so you need to call and ask themt o confirm these.you might also want to ask them about the ADSL settings: Multiplexng Method, VPI and VCI numbers. This will be very helpful. For CABLE connections (comcast, time warner, etc)it should be automatic. but if not try to search for MacSpoofing.http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1086

Lost security key for netgear router WNR834Bv2

Have you checked the sticker on the router? Sometimes they actually print the security key on a sticker usually on the back or on the underside of the router. You can also get to the routers internal settings, which will allow you to see or reset the security key, by plugging your PC directly into the router and typing in:192.168.0.1 in your browsers address bar. This should take you into the logon screen for your router. If you need any kind of technical assistance you can contact support cell at http://www.vtechsquad.com/

Msg. conntected with limited access

Try this.

Unplug the Router.
Unplug the modem.
Wait about 15-20 secs.
Reconnect the modem.
wait about a minute or until all the lights are solid on the display.
Reconnect the Router.
Wait about another minute until everything is given time to start up.
Try connecting again.

If it still does that, it may be a problem with your computer that your trying to access with wirelessly.

My mother had that problem on one of her laptops, it turned out that her particular installation didn't support WPA or WEP incryption. I did a full reinstall and now it works.

If you want to avoid a full reinstall you can try uninstalling the wireless network card, then reinstalling it.(Make sure you go to your manufacturers web site first to download the proper driver for your model)

I hope this helps,
Simon.

Router won't power on. Correct

May be a button on back of router to power on/off. If you have any other electronics you can compare voltages on power cords and make sure they match and try a new power cord. Generally though with routers if it has been fried by a surge of some kind there generally isn't a way to fix it, at least not in any way that will be cheaper than just replacing the router itself.

Require my username and password from netgear so i

If you haven't changed the default password (user admin and password as password, or if that doesn't work try 1234) try to log in with that, if that doesn't work you will need to reset the router to the factory settings to get in with the default user and password which is the above one. Note that you will lose the ISP settings and wireless settings when you reset the router.

Here's a video on how to reset the router to the factory default settings: http://kbserver.netgear.com/media/flash/training/Troubleshooting/NG_WGR614V9Router_TS_LostPassword.html
