a usb expansion port would work. its likely however that the pins in the damaged port are shorting out, try to look into the port and move any pins apart that are touching

try replacing your hard drive. the do the restoring again.

First of all it's always better that you never allow the New Wizard to run , it's useless and does way more damage that good.
Remove your Airlink card from the pc and reboot. Run a registry cleaner like Eusing (install it if you don't have one). Next go to 
http://www.airlink101.com/downloads.php and download (as in Save, not Run) the latest driver for your card. Now put the card back in the pc, don't allow the wizard to run and launch the installer you downloaded.
If even now you are not allowed it means that your account doesn't have admin rights and this is something to look into later.
For now just right click on the installer icon, select Run as... select an account with full admin rights, input the pass word and that's all, it will install.

Just pick up a replacement drive, they are throw away items these days. You can probably get one for 30 bucks.

Yes you can upgrade 1 of the slots to 1GB, as long as 1GB stick of memory is the 256MB stick then you can have both, to check the memory you will have pull them out of the slots and have a look on a little sticker on one side of them. You are looking for i.e DDR400/333/266 if the 1GIG memory matches one of the values mentioned above, say it is a DDR400 and the 256 is a DDR400 then they are compatable if not you will have to just leave the 1GIG stick in by it self in DIMM socket 1.

Go into your sounds settings Control Panel> Hardware and Sound (on Xp its just sound)> sound> You should have 4 types of speakers available. I have Digital Output Device (HDMI) Speakers Realtek Digital Output Realtek HDMIOutput my default was the HDMI and i changed it to speakers and then my speakers worked.

Is their files that need to be retrieved from the computer? If you were doing a restore they would be lost. You have other options. Your best option is to just purchase a copy of windows xp and install a fresh copy of windows. you will still have to find the drivers on the internet and download and install the. All of this work should really be done by someone who is computer savvy but its really not that difficult.

You might want to check the memory on your printer, since it your printer has a low memory then it could take forever to print. I would check the setting for the printer and see if the box labeled start printing after last page is spooled, becuase then the printer will wait for the entire document, you want to change that to start printing immediately and make sure spool print documents is cheecked.
