No sound out of one of my turntables SL1210

The thing to remember with turntables is that if you touch the audio imput of where the deck connects and it doesn't buzz then there's something up with the amp. If it does buzz, then remove the leads to the cartridge and touch them one at a time with your finger. One should buzz in one channel and the other in the other channel. The two other wires are earths and generally don't buzz.
If you get the two channels to buzz the cartridge is faulty. If they don't then inside the deck is a fault (perhaps an internal pre-amp has failed).

Turntable only playing in one speaker

In my business I work on a lot of turntables. Specifically, Memorex, Anders Nicholson, Innovative Technology and Emerson. 99% of the time when I only have sound coming out of one channel it is due to a broken cartridge. If you look at the tone arm head from underneath you will see a rubber fork that the needle arm sits in. There are usually 2 ceramic cartridges attached to the rubber fork. Those transmit the sounds from the needle. If one of those brakes then that channel will not transmit any sound.

My technics 1210 is giving out an un-balanced signal

Hi, most likely the cartridge is shot. If you have a second cart try that on the unit and see if it makes a difference. Other possible causes are the stylus tip is damaged on one side or the output cable or rca connections may be loose. Cheers John. Styluscity, com

Hi folks, my sl 1210 has one broken tonearm axle

Hi, sadly that part is not available separately and Technics would have you buy a complete tonearm. I have damaged tonearms in stock from replacement jobs and would be happy to send you a bearing and bush from one of those. Contact me at Styluscity.com. Cheers John.

There are 2 problems with the my deck: 1. The +-0

Hi, please do this test for me. With the deck running on 33 speed and the pitch control set to 0 use your finger on the platter centre and speed it up manually as much as you can. Doe's the quartz lock lamp come on? If not then open the deck up and loosen off the fixing screws on the circuit board that has the 33/45 buttons. Try to change speed with the board loosened off. If none of the above makes any difference replace the quartz lock neon. Use only original Technics neon. As a matter of interest have you done any mods to the deck? Cheers John,

Bad cartridge if you get a buzz from touching the wires to it once they are removed. That shows that the system is working but the output from the cartridge is rubbish!

one of your phono leads ether red or white is nakered.plug them in one at a time and see witch ones workin, then youll no the dodgy one.when you pull out leads from your mixer you can sometimes break cables free from the fittings if pulled by the wire.you wanna re soilder a new lead on to deck or pull back the sheath plastic covering the fitting and reconnect the cables(the insulated wire goes to the pin an the uninsulated goes to outside ring)gd luck

No sound from left speaker

To find out what the problem is try this, swap over the right and left leads from the deck to the amp. If the problem stays on the left channel there's something wrong with pre-amp in your amp. If it goes to the other channel (right dead) it's the deck. Next remove the wires to the cartridge to the deck with the fault. Make a note of how they fit on the cartridge before you do. With the amp connected to the deck and on. Touch (one at a time) each of the four wires with your finger. Two of them will probably produce no sound. But from one wire you should hear a buzz on the left channel and from another wire a buzz on the Right channel. If you get a Buzz on the left speaker then all the connects are good and the cartridge has gone. If you don't get a buzz, then there is something wrong with the left cable connector between the deck and amp.

Got the chance of a 1210but it has the following

I would be careful of getting this machine. The motor problem could be feasible. But if it needs a fuse that shows that there could be an overload in the power supply, which could be caused by the transformer or any semiconductor going short circuit. A transformer would cost a lot of money and that's if you can get one!
