Lamp is replaced by customer in most cases---look to owner manual---in general if lamp up front (I think yours is by the model number indicated) the front plate beneath the screen gets removed (have set unplugged) and a lamp door is marked---it opens when screw/s securing it are removed.Inside are two more screws---with them removed grasp the handle for the cartridge with the lamp and pull it out.Be sure to get a Mitsubishi lamp and not a generic "bulb" which would require you to take the housing apart---generic bulbs have a much shorter life.carefully slide the replacement in so the two pins on the rear connect correctly into the socket in the set where they go.there are video instructions for many sets on You Tube.
Sounds like the tiny E2P board with the EPROMS may be bad or problem on digital boards with leaking caps.E2P not easy to get at as buried in between two boards under the shield on one.
We had that problem for the first year we had the TV. When looking for a new bulb I had found on the mitsubishi site that there was a problem with the sensor and for a certain amount of time they would fix it. Of course we were beyond that time, but hubby was able to do something where we split the cost. No problem since and haven't vacuumed it once. It has been at least a couple years now.
If you mean that the LCD screen is needed then the part MUST be ordered from the Mitsubishi dealership as this will be the OE and the actual pairing component.
Now the most important decision is to check the COST of the unit including taxes, freight and INSURANCE which must be compared to the cost of a new model LCD/LED tv. If the old set can be scrapped for spares or for an exchange then it must be checked out as it might be worth while to invest if the cost exceeds only by a narow percentage.- you get warranty on the new TV.
Thank you for using fixya.
Lets check the "Error Code Operational Check" to determine where the fault came from.
Note : The TV must be in shutdown mode and not have been switched off to perform this.
Press the front panel "INPUT" and "MENU" button at the front panel(not on the remote control) at the same time, and holding for 5 secs activates the error code mode. The led light flashes denoting two digit error code.
Example : if the error code is "23" the led will flashes two times pause and will flashes 3 times and the code repeated 5 times.
Let me know the error code to assist you further.
Also, let me know the status of the led light at the front panel after the shutdown.
This kind of symptoms is cause by faulty(leaky/dried) electrolytic
capacitor in the power supply section. In the first stage of symptoms
warm up will make itself stable and the unit will power up after a few
attempt of plugging and unplugging from the outlet but it will get
worst, time will come that the unit will not power up at all.
Leaky capacitor has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at
the top and can be easily identify like in the sample picture below.
Leaky capacitor with dome at the top.
Dried capacitor has no physical indication of fault, you must have a
capacitor checker to determine its condition, if not available you
should replace all electrolytic capacitor in the power supply section.
It will not cost you much because it is one of the cheapest parts on
that board.
Click this LINK for more information regarding electrolytic capacitor.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
The lamp needs to be replaced. It's on the back and easy to do. I replaced mine about 3 months ago and it was about $182.00. Hope this works, I know it's hard to fork out that kind of money at this time but once you do the TV will be as good as new. Take care
Tries tv and cables or satalites services boxes unplug, replug it back like about an hour later for tv to do a whole tv set resetting itself back to factory setting and those services boxes rebooting and updating it software.Recheck all tv wires connections and sevices boxes for input cables wires for lose cables wire connections and damages connections cables wires. These steps should help, for stopping the volume just suddenly raise up and out of control for no apperance reasons.
Hi Julie,
Restore the unit first to "factory settings" by following the steps below.
> Enter the service adjustment mode by pressing "Menu - 2 - 4 - 5 - 7"
> Press " 0 " when in the service mode. Three choices will appear at the top of the screen.
Scroll down to "Restores factory set values" by pressing the Up & down keys then press "Enter"
Try the unit. Let me know if the symptoms still persist.
