If your comfortable remove the back cover and I'm sure you will find a blown main fuse, you can replace it but chances are it will blow again, a new main board should fix it or if your tech savvy you can troubleshoot it yourself, it should be an easy fix with a multi meter

Power supply issues, could be bad capacitors.

Likely an AKAI DLP made actually by Samsung. All 3 lights blinking is lamp failure. You can fix yourself with owner's manual.

I would check the fuse on the power oard its most likley blown . If its blown replacing it may cause it to blow again if the power board has an issue. If you end up needing a power board you can most liklely get one from www.tvcircuitboards.com

There is still hope. The set first will detect if the color wheel is running and at the correct speed--first with lamp removed examine the when to make sure no segments are missing or gone---if the wheel turns too slow the set will detect that and shut down. The fact the lamp comes on rules out most of the time the ballast that fires it but a lamp is still possible.Another thing I do in the shop in this case is put the set on a cart with back off and take outside----use compressed air and blow set out especially the fans and air channels---it would surprise most people to know a little dirt in wrong place can slow fans and set will detect that also---not hard to do and cannot hurt.I have seen a number of Mitsubishi and Sony sets with this issue.A failing color wheel can cause a fan like or high pitched sound but does not always do that.Just some thoughts based on working on Hundreds of these types of sets.

Akai is really Samsung---Remove and inspect lamp to see if shattered inside--it is a cartridge and very easy to remove.With it out look where the lamp faces and see if the color wheel pictured here is intact (no pieces missing etc).

If there is no power then it is possible that the SMPS has failed. check link at the bottom.

Also sometimes dry soldering is a common fault which can be checked and corrected by you assuming that there is no component failure . There is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance.

The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on , If there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.

Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up, if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault.

Based on the above method you must be able to locate the area of fault and solder the sections. Sometimes large IC's- ones with more pins- tend to have drying in some pins and so cause faults related to the IC's protocol. Have a rough idea of looking into the areas to reduce the time of probing.

1. Check that the power cord is securely plugged into the power outlet.

The television is actually pretty easy to check if you have a multimeter, T10 torx screwdriver or T10 socket, and a Philips screw driver. First of all remove the back cover from the television, do not worry about the screen assembly, it is flimsy but it is mounted on the inside to not go anywhere when the back cover is removed. Next remove the black voer that is mounted by 4 torx screws, the cover that has the projector part of the engine assembly sticking through, be careful not to damage the black foam rubber that is around the projector head. Once you have those two covers off, unplug the ballast power supply wire which is the white and black wire on the bottom of the ballast, the ballast is the circuit board that is mounted in front of the big fan on the right side Also has two wire coming from the top that plug into the lamp housing. With a multi meter check to see if you have power going into the ballast (TV has to be plugged in and turned on to do this step). If you have power going in then turn the television off and unplug it and and plug the power supply wire back into the ballast. Next remove the lamp which is secured into place with the one screw on the left side. See if you have power coming out. If you have power coming out than replace your lamp. If you do not have power going into the lamp than replace the ballast. If you do not have power going into the Ballast than replace the power supply which is part number DVL-U2830XC good luck in finding that part. If you have power going through to the ballast, and to the lamp and have replaced the lamp than replace the video board Part Number B0001

The pop noise could be a capacitor poping its top up.This is a common problem to most TV sets today. Usually located at the power supply board.Once this parts give up it usually shorts the circuit and blows a fuse.Replacements of these parts mentioned will often remedy the problem.Flashing power indicators indicate a problem.If you have the chance of counting how many the blinks are I could have told you the problems code are and the source of the problem.
