Canon CanoScan 8600F Flatbed Scanner Questions & Answers
Won't scan - says not enough disk space.
I had the same problem. Solved it by going into the "CanoScan Toolbox" - "Settings" - and pressing the "Defaults" button in that panel - and then "OK" button. Afterwards everything worked fine. Hope this helps you.
Cannot scan film and slides
Check the cable that connects to the lid of the scanner. If it is disconnected, you won't get the Film options.
Trouble scanning a document as a .pdf file
You need to have a pdf-handling application installed on your computer. At least you should have Acrobat Reader. There are several pdf handling applications on the web. Google pdf. (pdf Architect, pdfTK, pdfBulider etc.)
Scan from in to Microsoft Word
To be able to do that without problems you have to have installed the whole program for the scanner..I mean the driver and the software to manage it ..This can be downloaded from canon support site in case you do not have it on a disk ...or in the computer ..
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_8600f#DriversAndSoftwarehere is the link where you can download the canoscan toolbox..which is teh software I was talking about ..So , the procedure is to initiate the scanning from the toolbox in the computer ..and during the wizard ..select the preferences to scan document ..and not photo ..This will probably give you the possibility to select the program to be scanned into ..or will scan in word by default..remember to select the option to scan document ..and not picture..otherwise will scan as a photo and will end up with a jpeg of gif file ..Please do not hesitate to ask more questions in a comment if you have something you did not understood..and please rate my answer cause it affects my work here ..
How can you clean the glass on a Canon 8600F
Got this from Canon.com:
The foggy haze on the glass is actually an anti-glare treatment that has been intentionally applied to the underside of the scanner glass. This treatment lessens the glare from the lamp under the glass and provides better image quality. This haze may not appear uniform because of the shape of the scanner base and the components under the glass. However, the anti-glare treatment has been uniformly applied and the haze is as expected.
Re: Canon 8600f scanner. How do I get this to file
My cannon 8600F was ori=ginally connected to my old laptop & I could scan any document and save as a jpeg file. This was with Windows XP Prof.
Mow my new laptop has Windows 7 & I downloaded Primo from the web. But now I am not able to scan a picture and save as Jpeg file.
Please help.
Scans are taking a long
1) Your scanning image resolution may be too higher set 300 dpi / 400 dpi / 600 dpi. Scanning now fast.... not ok look step 2
2) Re-Install Scanner driver / down load new driver. not ok look step 3
2) Replace USB cable.
