Apple iBook Mac Notebook Questions & Answers
How do i remove the battery on a macbook white
on a unibody you have to use a special tri wing screwdriver. ifixit.com sells them cheap. you need to remove back cover, 8 screws Phillips head, then you need to lift the battery connector from the logic board with a spudger available at ifixit.com or some other tool that is plastic.
ifixit.com has detailed instructions for free. no catch. taught me a great deal. on how to do anything to your macs. for free-no catch.
there are a couple of Phillips screws inside and three tri wing screws. the first two tri wing screws are visible and the third on is under a small plastic flap near the slot where you load disks.
Ibook external monitor hardware
Hi, Check which video out connector your mac has (there have been a few in the last gew years) and then buy the appropriate adaptor from the apple store. (or ebay) This will give you a standard VGA connector that you can then connect to most monitors with a standard VGA lead.
I HAVE A APPLE I
If you have forgotten your code, you will need the OSX disk to reinstall.
This will wipe all your files though, if you need to save the files you will have to take the computer to a repairer.
Hope this helps!
The screen on my apple ibook laptop is black,
First make sure your screen brightness is not turned down. If not, and the computer can still turn on, chances are it's the logic board or display that has gone out. Your computer will need to be repaired by a specialist.
My ibook g4 track pad
More than likely, you have the preference for "tap to click" turned off. To fix this:
- Go to Applications/SystemPreferences.app or the System Preferences dock icon
- Click on the Mouse preference button
- Make sure that the checkbox next to "Tap to click" is turned ticked
* If you are using a more recent version of OS X you will instead see a "trackpad" option in System preferences. This is what you want to select to change this setting
Ibook a1005 won't start .My daughter had a ipod
Ok, there is something you can do to try to fix this. You need to reset the power management circuits - it's very simple, just follow these instructions:
- Firstly, try a less drastic approach - hold down the power button for 5-10 seconds. This may succeed in starting up your iBook.
- If that doesn't work, you need to reset the power management. Unfortunately, there are plenty of different models of iBook and many have different ways of resetting. You'll need to consult this guide to decide which way will work for your model.
If you need a hand figuring out what type iBook you have, just ask, and I can guide you through figuring it out. Same goes if you don't understand some of the instructions.
Hope that helped, good luck!
Blue screen of death :-(
Could be a hard drive failure, but more likely it is an OS failure. You might need to reinstall the OS from the OS X discs that came with your laptop. If you no longer have those discs, you might want to make a Genius Bar appointment.
Truthfully i got my ibook g4 used & not in
First of all, any kind of repairs done to this machine. Will will be very costly. But if you want to spend the money and the time. You can take the computer apart and check the trackpad and mouse button. You are looking for connection quality. Look for corrosion of the connectors, water damage, and sticky residue. Cleaning all of these things up with rubbing alcohol may help but, it's not guaranteed. You might have to replace the trackpad and mouse button.
Your best bet is to check an online auction site for a old machine that you can use for parts.
Good luck.
My mac screen is in negative and it still doesnt
Unfortunately with any kind of liquid damage all bets are off. You can change one thing and it may or may not fix the issue. And after some time you might have a completely different issue. You're smart thing is to cut your losses and get a new computer. Remember to backup your system before you lose everything. To be quite honest I'm surprised still working. Good luck.

Borrow or buy a basic USB mouse. They are quite cheap.
I've had this problem before. I simply went to the local library, unplugged their USB mouse, plugged it into my machine for a few minutes, and fixed the problem.

Macbook model A118
Quite common in all pc's. You can check the fan yourself. Disconnect all power sources including battery.
You'll need to earth yourself to prevent static discharge. (Loose copper wire, one end round your wrist the other attached to a radiator or water pipe)
Take any plates off the bottom of the laptop you can and clean our all the dust and fluff that's accumulated especially around the CPU and Fan area making sure all vents are clear.
If that doesn't work, you have to go a little further.
You'll need to purchase some heat sync compound/paste.
Remove the CPU fan and Heat dispersal plate.
You will probably see some dried up goo, that's the old heat sync paste, its been cooked. Clean it off the CPU and the heat dispersal plate, spread the paste on both the cpu and the heat dispersal plate to form a good interface and re-assemble.
For cleaning I use isoproprial alcohol, is softens without soaking and evaporates fairly quickly; and a soft lint free cloth.
Before you start have a look on You-Tube, it has loads of videos which will show you how to do it.
