may be it's showing limited or no connectivity on your wireless connection where it's trying to connect or may be it's connected wirelessly but your wired connection is not communicating properly with router's switch, could be due to bad port on router or bad NIC or bad cable...check in your network connection.

Dosn't the router come with cables? Connect one computer to the router and see if it works. If the router is brand new and hasn't been set up yet, it may have open wi-fi working right out of the box without needing a password. In that case, you could use a computer or tablet that has wi-fi, and no need for an ethernet cable.

I received no help..it was a wasted 2 hrs trying to understand the
technicians....I was promised that they could help me and the fee would be waived if
they couldn't....I have contested the amount with MC credit and explained that
I received no service. Don't know if I will purchase or recommend any
Linksys products after this awful experience. I wouldn't buy any program that asks for money up front and then doesn't deliver.....bad company and questionable value

Well ! this easy link advisor is not a good software to manage the network. It has some bugs. Some times even if you are able to go on line , it will show you that the router is not online. If you call the Linksys technical support, you will not get any technical support for the Easy link advisor. Even the Linksys is also not using Easy link advisor. They have a new software now called as network magic.

If you are not able to go online using the router, then you can try to set up the router maually. Ou don't need any CD or Manual or any software.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

you need to look at the back of your router you will able to see a blue color button . this button is known as wps button .

The router's password can be changed by running the routers setup cd. If you do not have the cd:

1.Open your browser

2.In the address bar type in 192.168.1.1 this will bring you to your router configuration.

3.put in your username/password "If you forgot your username and password you can always reset your router, if that is the case your router will go to back to default settings,In order to reset the router look in the back of the router and you will see a reset button, press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, the reset button is located next to the Internet port on the router.

4. When your linksys router configuration is up, go to Administration.

Download New Firmware

• Even though the wireless router is malfunctioning, downloading new firmware is possible by disconnecting the malfunctioning Linksys device from the Internet connection in the wall, then using that jack to plug your machine directly to the Internet. If this is not possible, use another computer that can connect to the Internet. You can download a firmware update directly from Linksys (see Resources).

Install New Firmware

• Once you have the firmware update available on the computer affected by the malfunctioning router, open the file and follow the instructions to upgrade the devices firmware.

You should just have to plug the N300 into a wall outlet, and plug an ethernet cable into the ethernet/network port. Access the N300 by typing 192.168.1.1 into your web browser's address bar to access the N300. It has been a while since I set one up, but if I recall correctly it should just ask you to choose the wireless network taht you want to repeat, select your home network and enter the password for it and save settings.
