What kind of monitor, a CRT or LCD type?
What kind of parts are you looking for?
The CRT type has dangerous voltages inside the unit and unless you know what you are doing, I would not suggest you go poking around inside a CRT monitor.

Try a different keyboard. If that does not help, then you have a serious problem:
* power-supply not sending all the voltages (5V, 12V) that it should be sending;
* video-card loose in its socket;
* video-card malfunctioning;
* RAM loose in its socket(s);
* RAM that is malfunctioning;
* problem with the motherboard.

If you don't know how to trouble-shoot each of the above problems, it's time to take the computer to a qualified technician, for proper analysis & repair.

When the system is going back into sleep mode what color is the power button flashing. It should like the system my not be going into sleep mode but have a more serious problem.

Also let me know what you see on the screen as you turn on the system.

Another thing to try is after you unplug the system hold down the power button for 30 to 45 seconds. This will reset the power state of the system. Note if you have the system plugged into a power strip you will want to reset the power strip too.

I want a free antivirus

Hello,

You can download free anti-virus from the internet. Here are three of the free anti-virus that I know. They are proven and tested to be of high quality. Just take a look at their websites to download the software from there. It's up for you to decide which one you would like to download. Remember, to install only one anti-virus in your computer to avoid problems. Just click on the list below to be directed to the site.

1. AVG Free Edition for Windows

2. Avira AntiVir Personal for Windows

3. Avast Home Edition for Windows

I hope this helps. Thank you for using fixya.

It depends on where the router is and what model router you have. If it is a G router, you may need to extend the signal with an Access Point. If it is an N router, you can purchase an N adapter, preferably from the same make of your router.

I am not familiar with a Rogers router. I believe that Rogers DSL is your service provider, and the Cable modem/router is made by a third party such as Motorola.

Look at your cable modem/router and list it in a reply message.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response Thanks, Joe I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/joe_8b8c2cd6ce148309

I have a dell dimension

Your "friend' probably put a BIOS password on your computer. Find and disconnect or remove your BIOS battery on the mother board. You may be able to slip a business card under the contact on the top effectively removing the power from the BIOS. Let it stay disconnected for 5 minutes. Reinstall and reboot.

If this doesn't fix it, you will probably have to get professional help at your computer dealer or repair shop.

Lesson learned: Don't lend your computer or your spouse to your friend.

Thanks for your visit today.
