Insert disk all i get i load then it eject disk

Well it seems that your DVD player is having an issue reading the disc, I guess the first question is what kind of disc are you trying to insert? Is it a burned DVD or is it a movie dvd? This model is not a Blu Ray so if you are trying to use a Blu Ray disc then it will not read it. If you are trying to read a burned disc from someone then more then likely the disc was not finalized and is unable to recognize the disc, because the finalization process is where all the the information is written about what kind of disc it is and the format, codecs, etc. OR maybe the laser is dirty or the DVD player has kicked the bucket. Finally, the product DESC says it can read DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R, VHS formats, but I have found that some DVD units do not like certain brands of Blank DVDs. I hope this offers some ideas for you and good luck!

I am trying to record to a blank dvd-r.

I bought a lens cleaner and ran it and it still would not accept blank dvd-r. I loaded some old recordings I made to see if they would play and they did. I noticed these were recorded on "Staples" brand dvd-r bought at Staples office supply store. I went out and bought some more of these and they work!! For whatever reason, the unit accepts these and I have made 5 copies and they all copy and play fine. Now i need to go get some more! The Maxell just won't work in my player. Too bad I bought 100!

Hi, my samsung dvd-vr357 doesn't

It seems that the mother board has problems and so the power supply to the main board from the SMPS must be checked. Also check the +5 to the processor and the display board , check the linking cords and the connector. Also to confirm the processor you will need to check for the parameters on the IC, check the oscillations on the crystal.
If this wont bring back any life the mother board is a suspect and must be confirmed.
Check estimate, swap to confirm before you invest.

When playing a video in the VCR all we see is a

It is a dirty video head, you can solve this by try to use a video head cleaner tape to clean the head, I personally think they don't work very well but its worth a try because it is easy, that is if you already have one. The best way to clean the head is with audio/video head cleaner sold at an electronic supply store in a spray can and spray a bit on a business card (heaver paper) and rub across the video head (not up and down) while holding the head so it wont spin, and you'll be able to see black on the paper. You'll want to do this two or three times until the black does not show up on the paper. The video head is the chrome spinning drum that the tape rapes around. You may also try rubbing alcohol.

I tried to play all

Hello,

First you need to look into how long the DVD player have lasted.
Then you try to play those same disc on another DVD player to get their response. If they work on other DVD players, then the lens of your player is either weak or dirty.

Try to use a lens cleaner, then try again, and if it does not work still, then the problem is that the lens is weak and needs replacement.

Take care

Have tried every dvd format

poppainvictu,

If your unit has some time on it and has been exposed to dust chances are you need to clean the laser lense. Do not use a commercial cleaning cd. If they don't damage your unit they certainly will not clean it. You need to go to my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4119308-clean_lense_cd_or_dvd_player which explains the process and where to get any supplies you may need.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Vr357 no power

If you take the top off of the unit there should be a glass fuse right behind the power chord. If you have a multimeter you can check and see if the fuse is ok by setting the meter on 120 ground the black wire to the chassis and put the red probe on the fuse out side to check for power. If the fuse is bad you can replace it, but you may have to unsolder it.

If exact model is Samsung DVD-VR357, than it doesn't even has to recognise blank disc as your unit is DVD PLAYER with Video Casette Recorder.

See Specs. for your unit below:
Function Combination VCR Y Compatibility Playback Media DVD-R,DVD-RW,DVD+R,DVD+RW,CD-R/RW,CD,VHS, DVD-RAM Playback Formats MP3, WMA, JPEG, MPEG-4, DivX A/V Quality Progressive Scan Y HD Upconversion 720p/1080i Digital-to-Analog Converter 10-Bit/54MHz DTS Output Y Dolby Digital Surround Sound Y Connectivity HDMI CEC Y Convenience Child Protection Parental Control Physical Features Connectivity HDMI Output Y Component Video Output 1(Rear) S-Video Output 1(Rear) Composite Video Output 1(Rear) Coaxial Digital Audio Outputs 1(Rear) Optical Audio Output 1(Rear) Product Weight & Dimensions Dimension 16.9" x 3.1" x 11" Weight 8.8Lbs. Shipment Weight & Dimensions Dimension 20.2" x 7.1" x 15.1" Weight 12.1Lbs.

Closest model match for DVD recording unit would be DVD-VR375

Unfortunately you have player only and you won't be able to recor DVDs with it whatsoever.

Good luck

Tells me i cannot copy a copy protected program

correct, if you are trying to copy an origional disc, that is a pre-recorded disc, then the copy right protection kicks in. If you are trying to copy a recorded disc, it may be the wrong format for the player.
