Not sure why you want to change baud rate. This should be automatically negotiated with the system you are communicating with.... What is the problem you are attempting to solve?

Error check 5100

Error 5100 refers to the encoder strip not being read correctly. Open the main cover so you can see the carriage (The print head, where the ink cartridges are). While it is moving you must pull out the power lead so it stops mid-travel .with no power you can move the carriage easily. Slid it to the left. You can now see the encoder strip. Its a thin translucent strip running the full width of the machine. I had black lines in it. I suspect it is dirty and wants cleaning with a cotton bud soaked in water. Run the bud along as much of it as you can. If dirty the bud will come out in dark blue. Now dry the strip with a dry bud. BE CAREFULL. do not apply any amount of pressure on it as it can break very easily. It is spring loaded. Move the carriage back to the right side. When it was on the left there may have been a wheel also of the same material up against it. Clean the round strip in the same way. Hopefully that will get it going again.

Whenever i send a fax, the machine confirms by viewing 'TRANSMITTING OK' but the addressee receives a blank document

Check the baud rate of your transmissions. Slow them down to the slowest setting and send a test fax to a helpful person. Slowly increase the baud rate (communication data speed) and send the fax test. When the fax doesn't show up on the receive site, then step one baud rate speed back, and save the setting. It could also be your fax that is faulty, or even the receive sites fax, also being faulty. To test your copy-head, insert a document into your loading section of the fax and press copy. If the copy prints out fine, then you know the head is reading correctly. It is also possible that the receiver fax (the other end) has a printhead failure.
