Is there an over ride code that will allow the dvds to play while the vehicle is running? I am in a custom car club and we have many vehicles with Dual in dash dvd players in them... If there is any way you could let me know either way, that would be great....

CAN I ADD A TV TUNER TO MY DUAL XDVD8181 HEAD UNIT

just hook up a vhs or dvd player from home that has tv outputs, but you would need a power inverter for the power supply of the vhs, then put the vhs audio and videos outputs to the dual's input: the auxiliars. make sure the vhs has channel changing.

Dual XDVD 700 Blank Screen

Take and bench test it. Pioneer brand do that when the ribbon cable is cracked. It is the one that get drag in and out during open and close. Open it up and check that. Goodluck.

If you can find a separate tv tuner with remote the run it through the unit rear input. But stand alone tuner is rare if it even exist. Search Ebay to see if you can find one. There is another way by hook up a small portable tv with video/audio output and use an adapter from RadioShack to send the signal to rear input of the unit, but picture and sound quality is only as good as the reception of the tv. Goodluck.

Help me find the code to my radio

Hi,

It is very possible that the height adjustment of the trigger switch underneath activated by the brake lever is slightly out of alignment. More often this involves a few turns of an open wrench on the lock nut of the switch.

Should you be interested, a repost of my response to a request for bypass of this model.
based on safety concerns. the DVD won't work if brakes are not engaged. The sensor for the enabled/activated brakes is the yellow/blue wire.

To bypass this model would mean grounding the brake wire would allow DVD playback. There is a little trick to make it work. It should start first as +12 before it should be grounded before the DVD will play hence a DPST switch would be required, not only grounding.

This is better explained here. Should you be in need of the manual, it is available here.

Additionally and a friendly reminder, in some regions, it is not allowed to view a DVD movie while vehicle is in motion.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FIXYA.

Parking wire

Hi,

To my knowledge the white/brown wire of a Dual XDVD8181 goes to the reverse lamp/switch. The pure yellow wire should go to an always on B+12 such as the battery positive terminal. It is the yellow/blue that goes to the emergency/parking brake.

Incidentally, this model is one of those that grounding the brake wire would allow DVD playback. There is a little trick to make it work. It should start first as +12 before it should be grounded before the DVD will play hence a DPST switch would be required, not only grounding.

This is better explained here. Should you be in need of the manual, it is available here.

XDVD710 wont accept any disk

I have two 8182s that both do this. Got fed up and took them apart. Both of them had a broken hinge pin in the back of the cd/dvd drive. There is a fairly strong spring that clamps the disk once it get inserted and I believe the tension on the spring is causing the hinge pin to break out of the plastic it is mounted in.
I epoxied mine and put a lighter spring in and so far it is holding up. Good luck if you are not VERY tech oriented. This isn't designed to come apart easily. Wish I could bring everyone some better news but I think it is a design flaw of the units.
