Why is my fan rattling after I cleaned the unit?

The fan may be on backward or pushed on the shaft too far. Call (336) 499-2505 and they will send you instructions for cleaning and reassembly that explain better than the owner's manual. Tell them you were on Fixya.com.

I replace my uv bulb

Some connection has not been firmly made, or the little safety switch at the back of the machine was accidentally pushed.
1) Check the back plug and make sure it is inserted FIRMLY. Does the machine work now?
2) If not, check the little switch in the back with the 0/- markings. Make sure it is depressed to allow power to the machine (try it after checking the plug.)
3) Check the fuse.
4) Unplug the machine and go back in to make sure the UV bulb is firmly inserted. It needs to be turned so that it "clicks," or "seats" correctly at both ends.

If none of these steps work, go through your Owners Manual step by step, checking all connections and wires. Make sure nothing is visibly loose, corroded, or broken. An owners manual is available at http://www.vollara.com or call Vollara customer service at 1-800-989-2299

After i cleaned the purifier it would not start

Something probably has not been replaced correctly.
Unplug the machine.
I. Check the plate and RCI (UV honeycomb) cell.
A. Make sure the top and bottom of the plate are in the little "tracks" at the top and bottom.
B. Make sure the plate is inserted firmly but not pushed in too hard. Same with the UV cell. It needs to be turned into each end until you feel it "click" or seat.
C. Look at all wires and make sure none are visibly loose or corroded or broken.
D. Make sure the plug at the back of the machine is inserted very firmly.
II. Check the fan. It has sealed bearings, which means it doesn't need oiling. However, it may be stuck for some reason. When the machine is unplugged, reach through with something and try twirling the fan.
III. If none of these troubleshooting steps work, call Vollara (new name of EcoQuest) customer service 1-800-989-2299 and use 16618 as your dealer referral number. They'll give you repair options.

Ecoquest Purifier was working when I went to

Hi.

The RCI Cell must probably be replaced, this must be done about every three years. Ecoquest has no website or online support. You can get support calling the number listed on the manual below.

The part costs about $90, parts available here.

Replacement is explain at page 15 in manual available here.

There is also a debate on health concerns related to ionized air purifiers. Here Ecoquest answer, stating the product is safe.

On the other hand:

The Dangers of Ionic Air Purifiers

Ionic Air Cleaners

Please read also this article.

Before replacing any part I suggest to read the articles. Ozone related concerns have caused the recall of other similar devices.

Regards.

Ginko.

It had been turned off

Hi,
My guess would be that it has nothing to do with the screw...
but it has to do with the fan motor being siezed up... try to spin the fan and if it starts or tries to run, then it is probably because it is too stiff and needs a lub job...get some WD-40 worked into the shaft end and then light motor oil...usually the fan must run before anything else will get power...

I do not know how to clean it. It is called Fresh

The Fresh Air has a reminder on the LCD to Perform Cleaning. This reminder will display if the purifier runs for 30 days. When this reminder is displayed perform the following steps to clean your purifier.

1. Cleaning the Case:

Wipe the unit with a soft cloth dampened with water. Do not use chemicals or solvents. Vacuum the front and rear grills to remove any lint buildup.

2. To clean the lint screen, RCI cell and purification plate:

3. To remove the back cover:

Remove the plug from the back of the unit. Unscrew the screw above the plug socket on the back cover. To remove the back cover, press the back sides of the back cover to unlatch and tilt the bottom of the back cover to remove.

4. To remove the rear lint screen:

Remove the two thumbscrews holding the top of the lint screen. Remove the lint screen by pulling back the top of the screen, then lift it up and out.

5. Removing the RCI cell:

Remove the RCI cell connector by pressing the connector locking tabs. Pull the connector straight out to unplug.
Remove the RCI cell by removing the two thumbscrews. Slide the RCI cell down and out of the unit.

6. Cleaning the RCI Cell:

Remove the RCI cell and carefully vacuum accumulated lint. Do not wash the RCI cell. Damage from water may result.

7. Rear lint screen cleaning:

You have two options

  1. When visibly dirty, simply remove the rear lint screen from the unit and with a duster attachment on a vacuum, remove the heavy particulate.
  2. In addition to step 1, the filter can be washed with hot water (do not use soap). Allow to dry prior to reinstalling. Replace if damaged.

8. Cleaning the Purifier Plate:

Remove the plate from the card cage by grasping the middle edge nearest to you, and slowly pull it straight out. Clean with mixture of one part water and one part ammonia. Place plate and ammonia mixture in a dish and allow it to soak for no more than 10 minutes. Remove plate and scrub with a toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and air dry for 24 hours or use a blow dryer to dry thoroughly.

After all parts have been cleaned and are thoroughly dry, reinstall components in reverse order. Turn the purifier on, and on the key pad, press the reminder Reset button to clear the Perform Cleaning message.

If this has been helpful, please rate this solution. Thanks

My front control will not function. I have lost my remote

If the front control does not function, you can not clear the perform cleaning message from the display.

Contact the dealer whom you bought the machine he/she should be able to help you. The machine has a 3 year warranty.

Otherwise, contact the manufacturer EcoQuest at 1-800-989-2299 and choose technical assistance from the menu. You will be guided through some trouble shooting and if needed you will get an RMA number so you can send your unit in for repair.

I have an ecoquest fresh air purifier and the end

That corrosion is oxidation for the lug connecting the grid plate.Metal contact fingers make contact on the plates metal grids. The same corrosion exists on those metal contact fingers and the plate itself. Clean the fingers, ensure good connections as the other wire connector spade for the other contact finger is probably compromised. You might de-oxidize the plate by soaking in pure white ammonia. At any rate,I agree about the quality of the machines and you might be faced with a small parts order from eco-quest.Do include the plate, a bulb and the bulb starter. I run 5 of these in a commercial setting and they are fairly enjoyable to work on.

My Fresh Air by EcoQuest blows out black like dust/substance.

The unit is designed to drop particulates out of the air. If you have a heavily polluted area there are more allergens/dust in the air and this might create a 'dust-shower'.
The unit charges particles negatively so the particles bond with positively charged particles. Then the particles drop out of the air or stick to a nearby object. This could leave some black stuff on the wall. You can easily wipe this off, most of this is grime/dust.
