20 Most Recent Alpine CDE-9881 CD Player Questions & Answers

  • HI, I can help.

  • First thing is to remember that this head unit can only be used with 1 4th generation and above I-Pod. 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation will either not work or have issues. So check your I-Pod.

  • Another thing to remember is that where the jack for the head unit plugs into the i Pod, they do get weak and begin to not connect. An i Pod in the car gets jerked around a bit more that just listening to it and that jack input can start to fail.

  • If you unplug the i Pod and use the buttons on the head unit that are used to access search mode or to search, do them buttons work as they should?

  • It could be any of the things I suggested. If it is because of the head unit, which I am not so sure of, then this would be a software issue. It would have to be repaired by a tech at Alpine as they have the software for their head units.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here and I will respond to you.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

There is no physical connection to connect any cell phone to that receiver other than an Iphone. The only option you have is to buy an fm modulator that has a 3.5mm headphone plug and plug it in to your phone. Then start playing your media.

Take your radio unit out of the mounting sleeve and see if you can bend tabs to hold the sleeve more securely to the dash panel... Not the greatest mounts... look on top, bottom and sides...

If you happen to have the tool which allows you to remove your head unit from the dash use it. If not go to crutchfield.com and get one it's useful for any audio enthusiast. Once you have the tool pull the head unit out on the back of the unit there is a cable that is black with a blue connector tip. This is what you plug your cable that you got from your audio dealer into. As for making the cable accesible you may have to drill a hole in your dash or run the wire around and out the glovebox which is also common and suggested for your particular car.

Hello!
Hopefully this will help you out.  The manual for the 9881 can be gotten here:  http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products/documents/OM_CDE-9881.PDF
Copy the entire line into your browser, and you will have it.  Don't forget to save it to your system.  It is in PDF format, so if you don't have a reader, pick up one for free here: http://www.adobe.com/
Good luck with the "new" car and radio!

are you using RCA outputs(the round red and white plugs)? if you are then your amp is not turning on and if you are hooking up speakers to your RCA's (low level) then you will not hear any audio the signal is to low. would need to know more about how you checked the ic power?? one could verify an output ic by hooking up an amp since the RCA audio signal is picked off just before the output. if the low level works but the speakers do not then you have a bad output. anything else an o-scope would be handy.
