Power short/ bad fuse?
I had the very same problem. The dreaded blinking power light. I also dabble in electronics. I found that all that was wrong with mine was one bad cap. There are two 1000uF(microfarrid) 16V(volt) capacitors in the mid section of the power board, right next to each other. One was bulging on the top. They have an "X" on top. I replaced it with a 1000uF 35V capacitor from Radioshack. They did not have a 16 volt. (Never go down to a lower voltage) The capacitor I got was larger than the old one but I gently moved over the parts around it and got in there. After replacing this one capacitor, which I got for $1.72 tax and all, I plugged it up and no more problems! It works great! I hope this helps someone else.

HTS3400 No longer Operational
Hi,
Unplug unit from wall socket for couple of minutes, replug back in and turn it On.
If problem remains same then output amplifier of home theater system got problem and unit set on protection mode to avoid further damage.
Output amplifier problem needs visual check by tech as its hardware problem and its not user level fix.
Local tv repair shop will help you to get it fixed.
Thanks.

Does not read dvd
Your problem is that you bought a Phillips instead of a Sony. Quality vs. Quantity my friend.
Anyways, your DVD player is set up to play region 1 and the disc you inserting is probably some other region. Look on the back of the DVD case and it will say what region you can play the disc on. Also, clean off all the smudge marks on the disc with some glass cleaner and this disc won't play if you got a lot of scratches on the thing.
If the above didn't help, then your fuc..d, cause your laser pickup is dirty or defective. Run a DVD laser cleaning kit through it, which is available at all the big box stores. See if that helps out any. If not, then your truly fuc..d and you need to call the manufacturer if this thing is still under the 1 year warranty. If your under 30 days, then just take it back to the store and exchange the thing out.

Surround sound for my home theater.
you cannot output sound from your xbox to another dvd system , you can however send the sound to your tv and output the signal to a stereo or home theater system if your looking to have surround sound or looking for stereo sound , the tv should be set to video1-2-3 and thats where youll be able to have sound and picture , , thanks sincerely glenn
