I get a message Protect. All other controls are
Usually the protect is a safe mode to indicate that your set is unsafe. Starrt by checking the speakers, speaker wires for shorting. detach the speaker lines and power on the set for confrimation. check in power/auxially circuits in the set. it is possible that your mechanism drive / audio output drive Ic's could have shorted. Most of these cirrcuits have an error detection of higher current to cut off power and issue a protect warning. so discoonect the IC power to confirm. Hope this helps. Good day

Illumination v. Dimmer
Good day,
The illum wire goes directly to the headlight switch and tells it when to light up, where as the dimmer wire is variable meaning it would dim up or down with your dash light control. Dimmmer is usually only need on factory radio's and not aftermarket. I suggest wiring only to the illuum lead and do not connect dim. Also about the clock make sure your red and yellow wires are not crossed, yellow is a constant hot and red is only hot when the ignition is on, so if they are backwards the radio would loose it's memory when you turn the key off.
Hope this helps

I cant figure out one of the wires on my kenwood
Hi, red = ingnition power black = ground yellow = constant +12v blue = remote. There should be 8 wires bunched 4 colours & 4 same colours with white stripes. These you will have to experiment with your cars wiring. This is just a eneral rule for most stereo wiring.
Hope it helps.

How to unlock the stereo
Unfortunately Kenwood codes are only available from the Main Dealer or
by using a Radio Decoding Service who will connect a laptop to read the
working code inside your radio`s memory chip (EEPROM)

I need the security code for my Kenwook KDC-MP435U
Press and hold the reset button (very small concave button to the right and below the main knob) You will have to set up everything on the unit because this will wipe the settings. It will also set the unit to the default of not using the security code. I recommend setting a code so if it locks accidentally, you know what the code is. There is no factory default for this on Kenwoods...it is user programmable.

How can i restart or change the code on a
there is a small button just to the right and under the control knob. Push and hold this button in standby mode. That will reset the unit. Once the unit is reset, you will need to set all of your other settings as well as the security code.
Once reset, press the SRC display until you are in standby mode. Now Press Enter. Code set should be displayed. using the control knob (Up, down left and right) set the security code. The unit will ask you to confirm this. Once you enter it twice, the unit will read "APPROVED." Now you can set your filters and other settings and enjoy!
