There is some way to change a protection (fuse?). No. The fuse usually was not broken. How long did your amp turn on?
3 seconds (DC protect) OR immediately shut down (Over Current protect)? How to confirm?
1.Unplug the amp.
2.Remove the metal cover.
3.You will see a long vertically installed pre-amp board mounted next to those large power transistors fixed by 12 screws on a large aluminium heat sink.
4.Remove this long vertically installed board mounted by 2 screws.
5.With 2 screws removed, just pulling this board out and hold it with one hand.
6.Plug the amp and switch it on.
7.If your amp stays ON forever, the problem is from this long board.
8.If switch off at once, the problem is from power amp board.

The hum a fluorescent light makes is the 50 or 60 Hz hum of the alternating current mains supply. Inside the light fitting is a choke which when less than perfect tends to hum. When the choke is loose internally or externally is when the hum becomes an annoying buzz. When an audio system has a similar tone of buzzing or humming the source will invariably be the same AC mains but how it got in there is difficult to answer... It could possibly be poor smoothing and regulation of the power supply or an accidental hum loop caused by careless design and/or poor grounding. It could be caused by being induced in the input by connecting leads that are too long and poorly positioned/screened or it could be caused by mismatch between different components causing a poor signal-to-noise-ratio. I am not sure why it should come and go but the fact it does would indicate a power supply problem more than the other possible causes. If the Onkyo system has it's own volume control and it is being used witha tv or similar, it is worth trying to imporove things by turning up the tv volume to near maximum and then controlling the volume with the system control.

Sounds like the laser is bad.

There is an antenna connector at the back of your unit, try connecting any antenna, an old rabbit ear antenna from your old TV will work.

I used to work on home theatre systems have seen this issue before. What most likely happened is there was a storm or surge in your area and it hit and damaged the microprocessor. If your unit is still under a warranty its best to send it in for repair. Otherwise it can be an expensive repair. However before you call or send it in for repair try resetting the AV receiver by holding down the [VCR/DVR] button and pressing the [STANDBY/ON] button. if this does not work it needs to be sent in for repair

the onkyo receiver should have hdmi jacks on it labeled cbl/sat,dvd, and so forth. plug the hdmi wire into the dvd and from the dvd to the hdmi jack on the onkyo that says dvd. then run another hdmi cable from the hdmi out jack on the onkyo receiver to the tv

Your volume potentiometer might no longer working properly. You need to inspect the wirings for any loose connection or cold solder. Check also the potentiometer with VOM or DMM if is good, if not the please have it replaced. If have not done electronic component replacement before, I suggest just bring your appliance to an electronic shop/center.

Hi...the HT-R800 Home Theater system has the HT-R550 receiver which could only carry Video via HDMI. you would need to connect a separate audio cale(Optical Audio Cable) to be able to get audio out of the PS3 to the receiver. Once you have hooked up an Optical Audio Cable you would need to go in the PS3 setup and putin Bitstream and Optical in the Audio Setup menu.

Connect the PS3 using another cable then go into the menu setup and make sure that the resolution is set to a level your tv can handle. Start with 480p and go up from there. I would imagine BUSH (never heard of it) isn't the highest quality tv so you have to make sure it can handle the signal. Start with that.

Set the sound out put on ps3 to the optical out put then set sound on ps3 to give you dolby digital,dts,aac etc.

PS, do not set the hrtz range above 100 as this can damage your speakers.

If you call Onkyo directly, 201-785-2600, there is a procedure to "reset" the system, something like holding the power button on and holding down another button for a few seconds. Can't remember which, so I can't be sure, but try giving them a call.

The reason why your receiver is going in protect is because there is a short circuit happening. This would either be on your speaker wires, speakers or receiver itself. What you want to do to check would be:
1. Unhook all sources and speakers from your receiver.
2. Turn on your receiver and crank up the volume to maximum, if your receiver does not shutdown or go on protect then the receiver is OK. If it does shutdown and go on protect then its an internal problem on the receiver and you would need to send that over to an authorized service center.
3. Hook up a source and 1 speaker. Play something from the source or the fm tuner, Crank Up the volume to about 46 or 47 volume. If the receiver does not shutdown, its good.
4. Hook up a second speaker and repeat the process until you encounter the pop and shut down
if for example you encounter the pop on the 4th speaker, try changing the speaker wires.
5. If the receiver still shuts down then it would be a short on the speaker itself and it would need to go to an authorized service center.

I had the same problem and fixed it by manually setting the surround speakers changing the Level Cal to +12dB. You will immediately notice a significant increase in volume and may need to back down on the dB's. What a diffence it makes!

First put the orginal ps3 cable onto ps3 then to tv.set tv to see ps3 and go to ps3 setup,now down to display settings,set to hdmi,picture will go off so now switch tv to hdmi input .Next go to sound settings for ps3 and set to hdmi if your amp can work this way ,if not set sound out to optical.

Good news. This doesn't mean that anything is (necessarily) broken.

In the middle of the remote, there is an [ENTER] button surrounded by arrow keys. To the top, left of this of this arrangement, there is another button labeled "SP A/B". Turn your system on (and check that the volume isn't maxed out from your troubleshooting) and hit this button. Look for the display to say "Speakers A" or perhaps "Zone A" or similar. You will probably hear audio before you get this far.

If you are still having problems with this, try changing your speaker connections in the back. Attach your two main speakers (Front L/R) to the connections for "Speakers B" (the springed, push down, bare wire connection at the bottom, right). This is just for testing output via Speakers B. If this is as far as you get, respond with more information on your experience.
