Panasonic PT-52LCX66 Projection Television - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I have a Panisonic pt-52lcx66 that won't come on.
OK AT THIS POINT IT COULD BE A BALLAST ISSUE IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S NOT SENDING THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF VOLTAGE TO THE LAMP TO TURN IT ON, AT THE START IT NEEDS A KICK OF 15,000VOLTS TO TURN ON AND IF THE BALLAST IS WORKING CORRECTLY THIS WILL HAPPEN
HOPE THIS HELPS

Says to clean the air filter
The air filter on this set is on the bottom of the light engine which means you have to remove the light engine form the set to access the filter, i have the guide right from panasonic service manual, no picture as the manual does not have one but here is the info:
######################################################
THE FILTER ON THE PROJECTION UNIT
CAUTION:
Operating with torn or damaged Air Filter may cause damage
to the Projection unit.
Remove the Projection Unit from rear.
The filters are located on the bottom and in new engine
designed the front of the engine.
clean the filters onthe Projection Unit. Gently remove any
accumulated dust from
filter with a vacuum cleaner; use extreme care so as not to
damage or tear the filters.
############################################################
The engine is a little tricky to get out you really need to be sure each connector removed is inserted and no cable has stress on it when it is being removed, there are no photos of the process just a tech jargon from the service manual.
Hope this helps,

My tv turns off for about 15 seconds and turns
There can be several causes for this, few of which you can do anything about. However, a few things to try:
1) Replace the batteries on your remote control.
2) Try resetting the logic functions on your tv by unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in.
3) Try covering up the infra-red receptor on the front of your TV to see if you're getting unwanted signals from the receptor. taping a piece of foil over that area is perfect. If it doesn't stop after doing these two things you'll probably need to take it to a shop.
4) If this does stop it, then look for unexpected signal sources. Have you added a remote control extender? Added a new device to your audio-video system? Changed to a new remote?
I hope this helps. Joe

The lamp hour meter needs to be reset.
After replacing the lamp make sure the power cord is plugged in to a grounded outlet. Press the power button then hold the left volume button on the unit and the 0 key on the remote for 5 seconds. The screen should say your lamp was reset to zero.

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you have to
replace the convergence IC and check power resistor for leakage, if values are
not exact you have to replace them. The typical cost to get this fixed by a pro
is about $300 - and it doesn't mean that he/they will do a job better than you
do. The parts are less than $100 (about $20-$30 for the IC's) if you want to do
it yourself. Replacing only the IC's MAY solve the problem; however, many
people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. Why would you ask
should you replace both of the IC's if only one is shot?! If one is shot the
other one is not far away and for that little price of the chips it worth
changing them both at the same time. Also the convergence board should be
checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot,
the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the
repair twice. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else
revert for further assistance.
Thanks

Where do i locate lamp in my panasonic pt 52lcx66
The left speaker grill comes off then the lamp door will be behind there. Mind you if the lamp in your TV still works and you are changing it. Make sure that you let the TV cool down for a minimum of an hour before handling the old lamp. Also your lamp part number is TY-LA1001. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

Where do i get the replacement lamp for my 52
I am not sure, but I think this set uses the "TYLA1001" lamp-- the little one, and it IS not too easy, or cheap to get. But it IS available on line, from a number of sources, about 225 or so.

How to test hdmi
You can test the jacks with an ohmmeter. If you get a high or infinity reading,t hten it is good. If low or null, then they are bad and the capacitor inside
will most likley have to be replaced.
