Check to make certain that your digital input setting is correct (optical, coaxial or analog)

If this is ok, try a soft reset. Unplug the unit and leave it sit overnight (completely drain the caps.)

Check all connections to the TV and speakers.

Do a reset.

1. Enter STANDBY mode.

2. Press following keys at same time: PRESET + and PRESET - and SURROUND DOWN to reset the unit.

RCA RT2760 home theater. I have Insignia blu ray player connected. The surround sound works for the ads on the disc, but when the actual movie starts, there's no sound.

Generally the adds are in conventional sound, not Dolby Digital or any superior sound. So when the movie starts the sound switches to the better sound, which you appear to have not connected it up or have not get the right sound settings selected. So you hear nothing. The Blue Ray player might have to have a either an RCA cable connection, or more likely an optical lead to hear the Dolby Sound types.

SHUTS OFF

the only thing I can think of that would shut your system down is the heat shield is telling it to shut down. If your system is inclosed in a cabinet of sorts the heat coming from your reciever will overload the heat shield and shut itself down as a safety precausion to the system.

Subwoofer stopped working on my

Hi,
First check if the speaker is not faulty. Using your ohmmeter(set in resistance measurement) test the continuity of the speaker. If not available, spare battery (D,AA,AAA) may used to confirm the sound from the speakers(test the two wire of the speaker through both end of the battery). Upon testing the continuity of the speaker you will hear a slight crackling sound .
No sound - your speaker voice coil is already open(blown). You must replaced it with new one or rewind the voice coil to the shop specialized in speaker rewinding.
Yes it has sound - Then the fault was came from the amplifier/receiver. I'm assuming that the settings is correct and the speaker is properly hooked up, the sub-woofer sound output IC(mounted in heat sink) is going to be check for faulty. Most of the case it was already blown(shorted or open). You must check it using the ohmmeter.
If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to look for an experienced technician to isolate the problem.
Also, check if your unit is still under warranty perio(1 year from the date of purchased), avail it because the manufaceturer will fix it for free. Don't attempt to open the cover of the unit, it will void the warranty.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Need to no how to

First of all, any analog sound processor employed with a multichannel receiver will on;y function correctly for analog 2-channel sources. Second, it needs an opening in the audio path that allows it to get between the source and the amplifiers, commonly know as a Tape Monitor loop. There would be a Line Out and a corresponding selectable Line In that does not disable any other source. That way a seelcted source like FM would exit the unit, be processed, and come back IN for listening.

This receiver doesn't have that.

You COULD place the EQ between an external source and Line In if you want to Equalize one source for playback.

I have a RCA surround

You can either try ordering a that specific remote from RCA. or you can buy a "universal" remote from Wal-Mart, Shopko, Target etc.

You can also go to the RCA website and contact customer support through this link:

We have an rt2760 system. There is no sound

Firstly make sure you have connected the speakers to the main system in an proper order. Certain system's have the name of the speaker's mentioned at every output line which is at the rear of the system. If you would connect the wrong wires then it eventually would not play the sound. once this is done make sure that the wires of each speakers are split into two at both the ends. They are normally coded in red and black colours at the tip of the wire. Check if the red of the wire is connected to the red of the system and so on for all the speakers. So try removing all your connections and do it all over in a proper way
