Your stove uses this ignitor/glowbar. The way you stove works is the oven control sends power down to that glowbar then onward to the gas valve and back to the power source. When power is received from the control the glowbar begins to light up. As it heats up it changes in resistance. The change in resistance causes a bi-metal inside the gas valve to open up the flow of gas out to the burner. The Sensor in the oven then determines that the desired oven temp has been reached and sends back the news to the control and the control shuts down the power till the temp drops and more heat is needed. So what can go wrong. Your glow bar could be cracked crashed and burned (if you can't get continuity open glowbar then yeppers that is the probo). The glowbar could be glowing but not changing the resistance in the circuit so it still could be bad, if it looks real dim that is a good indicator of a tired old glowbar. The gas safety valve is usually never the problem unless it is open between the terminals. Your sensor if open or out of spec (1100 ohms @ room temp) could be faulty and not sending back confirmation of temps. If that was the case you would probably be getting a failure code like an F-3 on the oven control. I have 2 videos I want to present to you. The first is silicone ignitor operation and the second is checking an oven sensor:
The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video will walk you thru the correct procedure for testing an oven igniter. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.
This is your bake ignitor I suspect it is weak and not opening the gas safety feature. It should be so bright you cannot look at it for long. If it is a dim orange it is weak and dieing. This video explains how it works: If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/dan_73bbd84fe1d95b61
you will need to raise the top of the unit where the cooktops are located, then raise it like a car hood,it will unclip with a screw driver, then release it manually toward the back on a rod and latch, oven top will only raise about a foot high when raising
Hi, F2 error code on the Amana Oven means "Oven too hot"
You have to replace Oven temperature sensor to fix it.
F3 error code means "Open or shorted oven temperature sensor".
Yo also have to replace Oven temperature sensor to fix it.
Summarily, both code has to do with the temperature sensor which you need to replace...
Check to see if there are any vents or air ducts that are getting plugged up with dust. You can also dismantle the unit and vacuum it out so it can all breathe easier. You don't want to operate the oven to many times like this or it will eventually fry a capacitor on the main circuit board.
Faulty THERMOSTAT. Call a repairman to replace. If you attempt to locate and replace it, be sure to turn off all gas from the outside handle. You may have to relight all of your pilot lights, but its better than blowing yourself to the moon!
Thanks for using FixYa. F1 error indicates that the control board (ERC) has gone bad and the electronic range control (ERC) should be replaced to resolve the issue. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
The oven temperature sensor is defective. Unplug the range or turn off the range circuit breaker. Open the oven door, remove the oven racks. The temperature sensor is a pencil thin metal piece about 4 inches long. It protrudes from the rear upper part of the oven cavity. Remove the mounting screw(s). Carefully pull the sensor out to expose the molex quick connect plug. Unplug the sensor. Replace it with a new sensor. Reverse the above order to secure the sensor and restore power.
Hi, If your electric oven is not heating then you probably have a bad heating element in your oven. This is not that hard to fix yourself... Check out this tip that I wrote about the Oven not heating problem..
