Olympus digital recorder WS 110, keeps saying connect to pc
the only thing left to try is to try and format the device and see if you can restore it back to factory default settings. You go to the menu and to the format option. This will permanently remove any recordings you have done and as I said restore the device back to factory settings. If that doesn't work then you will probably need to send it to Olympus for repair service.

How do I get back
Unfortunately because the device has flash memory the voice files once deleted are unable to be retrieved. You may try to google search for companies that specialize in flash memory recovery but it is a very expensive process.

Can transfer but cannot burn
Not so much as a solution as a reason why it won't work. The Olympus web site FAQs says that you can't transfer onto an audio CD because the 4-bit depth used to expand the recorder memory can't be converted to a format that is compatible with audio CDs.
I'd be very pleased to find someone who's found a way round this as I brought this recorder to record my study notes, put them onto CD and play them to myself in the car, walking the dog, during lunchbreak etc.

Vn-3100 non pc
I beleive that recorder is mono. You have to use an adapter for stereo headsets or listen on one side of the head set.
Accessories are available at olympus.com

on Windows XP, you will need to convert those files into 16bit cd audio quality. You can do this thru Sound Recorder on the computer. Just make that you change the file name before converting. Open up sound recorder, open up file, save as, convert, then change quality to cd quality then ok. After it is saved in 16 bit format, open Windows Media Player and then burn.

Audacity
Use Sound recorder that is included on Windows XP it gives the easiest conversion option for .WAV files.
Converting the File Properties
1. Left click Start, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Sound Recorder. If you
intend to do this procedure often it is recommended to drag the Sound Recorder shortcut
icon onto your Desktop for convenience.
2. In the Sound Recorder box click on File> Open
3. In the Look In field locate and select your file. Click Open.
4. The Sound Recorder box is back. Click File> Save As.
5. In the Save As box click Change…
There are all the options listed that you can change and the bit rate is one of the options.

That device will sometimes allow a clear. This will clear any contained info but should restore function of the device. Turn on the recorder and once you see ERR press and hold stop and erase until the word clear appears. If the word is not up at 15 seconds it will not work, but if clear pops up on the screen just press the REW or FW button to choose yes and then press play to execute. This will clear any contained info but should restore function of the device.
