How do I scan 5x7 B&W negs as positive images?

Hi there, follow these steps
  • Go back to your scanning window and choose the correct film type to achieve the right kind of scan. You are looking for a location where you can choose to “Select Source.” Choose “Color Positive Film” if your slide is in color or “Black and White Positive Film” if your slide is in black and white.
  • Locate the area where you can choose your “Color Mode.” You can choose to scan the slide in either “Color” or “Grayscale” depending on your needs.
  • Choose an output resolution. If your intention is to make prints from your scanned slides, you will want a higher resolution such as 300 dpi or more. If you intend to use your images online or on a website, your resolution should be 72 dpi.
  • Select the number your slide is located on your removable device, if applicable.
  • Select “Preview” to see a quick scan. Make sure your slide is correctly placed and that it is straight in your "Film Guide."
  • Click on “Scan” when your settings are complete. Once your scan is complete, it is important to save your image right away before making any additional adjustments.

Epson Artisan 800 Scanner leaves blue/grey stripe on side.

I had this exact same issue with two Artisan 800's. I was told it was a hardware issue. Both were returned under warranty to Epson. Have since had problems with ADF and that printer was returned. Warranty has now ended. Expecting to buy a new printer shortly: they last about 4 months before having problems. It won't be an Epson even though that's all I've owned for 10 years

Epson Perfection V100 photo scanner issues

    Hi.
The driver software must be installed before connecting the scanner to computer, or installation may fail.
If you have plugged in USB before installing software, then remove the installation doing a system restore to one day before you installed the scanner. Reinstall the scanner afterward.

You find system restore at: Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System restore.
    • Chose one day before scanner installation, and restore to that day.
    • After restore , restart computer keeping USB cable to scanner unplugged.
    • Download all software and drivers here :Epson Perfection V100 Photo, Drivers & Downloads
    • Install drivers starting from Twain Driver.
    • Plug in USB only if asked by installer program
    • Restart computer after installing, and plug Scanner USB if not done already on setup wizard request.
    • Possibly use a different USB port, if you have a replacement USB cable also test it.
    • Ensure that firewall and security software has been disable throughout the whole process.
    • Ensure that you installed all scanner software. If you install Twain driver only the scanner will work, but you will need to use an external application to acquire scans.

If still no luck, then there may be a an issue with the recently re-released service pack three (SP3 is 3 yrs old). In that case you can uninstall SP3, reinstall drivers, and reinstall SP3 on top. There are device drivers that had not been tested on SP3, and sometimes this can cause installation troubles.

    Best regards.

    Scanner glass clean

Cleaning the glass is rather simple. Take the 2 screws under the cover out. Now gently lift the top part of the scanner (some force may be needed). Then the scanner is in 2 parts and the glass can be cleaned inside and outside with a wet wipe glass cleaning pad. Dry the glass with a towel and inspect the glass with a lamp, that no cleanser remains are left. Now install the scanner in reverse order.

Recognizing hardware on a Mac OS X Tiger

Try just using the epson scan utility

    1. Launch Epson Scan by going into your HARD DRIVE, APPLICATIONS, and EPSON SCAN.
    2. If prompted, select your scanner from the list of models and click OK.
    3. In the FILE SAVE SETTINGS window, you can designate the location, name and type of file the scans will be saved as.

-LOCATION defaults to HD/USERS/(YOUR USER NAME)/PICTURES. Click CHOOSE if you wish to change this.
-PREFIX determines how the scan will be named. Type any name you like. You can also designate a start number.
-FILE TYPE dictates what format the scans will be saved in. ie. .JPG, .TIFF, .PDF, or .PICT)
-For example: if the prefix is "img", the start number is "1", and the format is "JPG", the name of the file saved in
    PICTURES will be "IMG001.JPG"
    4. Click OK once settings are changed as desired.
    5. The EPSON SCAN window will open and begin scanning in FULL AUTO MODE. In FULL AUTO MODE the software makes all the decisions for you (as to what is being scanned, where it is on the flatbed, etc). This is the easiest way to scan.
    6. If you want full control over the scanning process click PAUSE and change FULL AUTO MODE to HOME MODE or PROFESSIONAL MODE. In the latter two modes you can change your scan settings as desired. Click SCAN after you have selected your settings. Click CLOSE once the EPSON SCAN is finished scanning.
    7. When scanning is complete, your images will be saved in the location specified on FILE SAVE SETTINGS, with the prefix and in the format you set.
