I have a Thomson digital recorder which will not now give me the choice to record the series

it could be that the hard drive has failed, if it will also not give you playback of previous recorded tv, then its probably failed, there is a good chance you can just replace the harddrive and should not be any more difficult than doing it in a pc, most will just fit in and out, and when power back on will ask you too format media / harddrive but always do it with the power off

Need to program my unverisal remote to my tivo

If it's the only TiVo in the room, try the codes for Philips brand VCRs. For a more involved answer, join us at the TiVo Community Forum http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/index.php? Not a TiVo, Inc. site, an independent TiVo user community.

Why am i getting a Temporary Service Connection error message?

Did you go into Settings, Phone and Network, Change network settings, and inform the TiVo of the changes, especially to the SSID (which you should not be broadcasting)? I'm pretty sure the TiVo doesn't need to know the router's password, if you mean the password you have to enter to access your router via a web browser for purposes of changing settings on it, although if you're running any kind of wireless encryption on that router the TiVo will need to know whatever password is associated with that. And while you're at it, consider giving everything on your home network that doesn't leave the house a fixed IP address that lies outside of your router's DHCP address pool, and making that address pool only a little bit bigger than the number of devices you anticipate needing an IP address assigned via DHCP once you've handed out fixed addresses to everything that doesn't travel.

Can I record VHS tapes

Sure, just plug the output of the VCR into the input on Tivo. Set the Tivo to Channel 0 or 1, hit play on the VCR and then Record button on Tivo. Stop recording when the tape (or portion of) is finished.

Check out the website of Weaknees.com.

They sell Upgrade Kits& larger hard drives for DVRs.

Go to their site and click on DVR Hard Drives... they will ask for the make and model number of your DVR and offer additional and/or replacement Hard Drives for your specific DVR.

They also offer (2) Upgrade Services:

(1.) for $49 they will install your additonal or new Hard Drive

(2.) for $79 they will copy all your setting AND programming to the additional or new Hard Drive.

I have dealt with them before and their email customer service is one of the best I've ever experienced.

Good luck!!!

Toshibo tivo error code S03

...from the Tivo community:

http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/archive/index.php/t-285853.html

Probably a processor code that means "general purpose interrupt"..means that your 'box is unstable' and/or the system
chip or related is very sensitive to outside noise. The Tivo people
are correct..just GET A NEW ONE.

When my TiVo stops recording a show on, say,

The end of the IR Cable that attaches to your cable box may have to be repositioned.

Try moving it a small distance (you are already close or you wouln't be receiving ANY channel changing info. from it) and see if that helps.

Good luck!

HDMI not permitted

I install Sky for a living and Ive had this before on the HD box. this is down to a compatibility issue with the receiver and the brand of television. The only way you can sort this out is by going onto the TV manufacturers web site or calling them for you to get some updates for your TV. Its down to the encrytion on some channels.

Hope this Helps

TiVo stops recording

The problem is probably due to lack of available space on your Hard Drive.

Try deleting some programs you have saved as "Keep Until I Delete" and you should then be able to completely record the new programs.

Also, in case you didn't know, Tivo will NOT let you fill up the entire Hard Drive with programs you want to record, but rather, it keeps approx. 30 minutes of Hard Drive space for each tuner as a buffer so that in the case of a show you are watching live, you can go back and replay part of a show you have just seen.

Tivo & cable

Have you gone through the automated set-up again, to let the Tivo detect what channels you have and don't have?

I had a similar issue a few years back when Comcast changed our line up, and that solved it for me.
