Set up your infrared blasters connected from your IR port on the Tivo and by placing the two lead lights in front of your cable box so it (the cable box) can read the signal.  Then go to Channel settings accessed through Tivo Central and follow the questions. It will ask you to change channels until the remote is working correctly.  This all worked on a different "input" on my Mitsubishi TV (it has multiple inputs.  I have the cable input on a different "input" to make it work.  Hope this helps.  Call TIVO tech assistance because they are the ones who talked me through this.

If it's the only TiVo in the room, try the codes for Philips brand VCRs. For a more involved answer, join us at the TiVo Community Forum http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/index.php? Not a TiVo, Inc. site, an independent TiVo user community.

it could be that the hard drive has failed, if it will also not give you playback of previous recorded tv, then its probably failed, there is a good chance you can just replace the harddrive and should not be any more difficult than doing it in a pc, most will just fit in and out, and when power back on will ask you too format media / harddrive but always do it with the power off

Did you go into Settings, Phone and Network, Change network settings, and inform the TiVo of the changes, especially to the SSID (which you should not be broadcasting)? I'm pretty sure the TiVo doesn't need to know the router's password, if you mean the password you have to enter to access your router via a web browser for purposes of changing settings on it, although if you're running any kind of wireless encryption on that router the TiVo will need to know whatever password is associated with that. And while you're at it, consider giving everything on your home network that doesn't leave the house a fixed IP address that lies outside of your router's DHCP address pool, and making that address pool only a little bit bigger than the number of devices you anticipate needing an IP address assigned via DHCP once you've handed out fixed addresses to everything that doesn't travel.

Sure, just plug the output of the VCR into the input on Tivo. Set the Tivo to Channel 0 or 1, hit play on the VCR and then Record button on Tivo. Stop recording when the tape (or portion of) is finished.

Check out the website of Weaknees.com.

They sell Upgrade Kits& larger hard drives for DVRs.

Go to their site and click on DVR Hard Drives... they will ask for the make and model number of your DVR and offer additional and/or replacement Hard Drives for your specific DVR.

They also offer (2) Upgrade Services:

(1.) for $49 they will install your additonal or new Hard Drive

(2.) for $79 they will copy all your setting AND programming to the additional or new Hard Drive.

I have dealt with them before and their email customer service is one of the best I've ever experienced.

Good luck!!!

Have you hooked it up and just tried it. Comcast supports Tivo. If you do indeed have a scramble problem I believe there is a hack for it.

...from the Tivo community:

Probably a processor code that means "general purpose interrupt"..means that your 'box is unstable' and/or the system
chip or related is very sensitive to outside noise. The Tivo people
are correct..just GET A NEW ONE.

Thanks for using FixYa. I hope you know that Series 2 TiVo won't give you HD. The TiVo Series 3 is the HD-capable TiVo, so you'll be limited to SD if you want to record a game on your TiVo. Split your cable coming into the room between the HD tuner and TiVo. Then run component video out of the TiVo directly to the television (Component 2 input), and the audio out of the TiVo goes into the home theater (AUX 2 input). If you are not using a home theater then ignore the home theatre connection. However, by using a digital adapter doesn't guarantee proper working until the tivo supports the comcast digital adapter. Check with Tivo if the adapter is supported and whether you need a RF Modulator with this.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Have you gone through the automated set-up again, to let the Tivo detect what channels you have and don't have?

I had a similar issue a few years back when Comcast changed our line up, and that solved it for me.

The end of the IR Cable that attaches to your cable box may have to be repositioned.

Try moving it a small distance (you are already close or you wouln't be receiving ANY channel changing info. from it) and see if that helps.

Good luck!

Seems like there is no solution. No repair possible according to TiVo, and all repair shops I've contacted. End of story.
