The manuals explain it.

For all practical purposes an EQ or any analog audio processor connects exactly like a Tape Deck - into any RCA pairing that has both an OUT and an IN and can be selected to be in or out of the audio path.

However, on this and just about any modern digital-capable AV Receiver, activation of any external loop that would connect a processor or tape deck would automatically DISable any digital audio sources. The effects of the processor, therefore, can only be used with analog stereo sources. It WILL affect the sound going to all speakers if you use the various Digital Sound Porcessing modes as the extra channels are derived from the stereo channels anyway.

The power switch itself may have become intermittant...these switches are usually sealed and cannot be cleaned with contact cleaner...there also may be the possibility that the solder joints on the switch have become defective and need to be resoldered...you can remove the cover and look at the pc board that the power switch is on and see if you have good solder connections...a good solder connection will be shiny...a bad one will look as if it has a cracked ring look...if all else fails...you can simply replace the switch...I think Radio Shack carries them and they are not very expensive at all

If the unit keeps going into standby mode you may still have a device shorting out to the receiver. With modern electronics they have a contact switch to turn them off and on. So if a charge builds up on the board this can cause the unit to turn back off and/or turn on by its self.

To test to see if this is the case or if there is something wrong with your unit then what you need to do is unplug all your devices from the receiver except the speakers and see if the problems keeps happening. If it does not then start plugging back in your devices one at a time to see which on is causing the problem. Note alot of times the problems is with the cables and you just need to change them out. If the problem is with the device you might look at getting a ground loop isolator as this will redirect the gounding power back to proper ground instead of your receiver.

Let me know if you have any more problems or question

You don't. Once the speakers are adjusted relative to each other using the test tone that's it. The modern presumption is that you're sitting in the sweet spot at all times and all program material is perfectly recorded.

The manual is available at retrevo.com for free.

i'm not sure if this will work, but you could try connecting the rca stereo cables from you cable box to the cd input on the receiver those would be analog. then you could use the music channels at least. as for an ipod maybe sort of the same thing using an av cable instead of the dock;like i said i don't know if it will work but just a thought.

you probably have to set it to multi chanal mode , while tv is most stereo the receiver has to decode that to 5ch

If you want to DIY, send an email to me at [email protected] . This email will be deleted
after 1 week. It is a very common
faulty found in onkyo av-amp, very easy to get fixed,
however. I won‘t tell you here. Why? I buy faulty av-amp to repair, selling them on the web!.
