How do I install the radio shack 15-2186 indoor outdoor antenna
you don't ask these questions after you buy , ask them before.Obviously you don't install it the same way as a normal antenna so , how is it done? First of all I don't even know what it looks like but I can say its got to be a di-pole antenna which is the norm for inside use. You could also use it outside. If you have the one that looks like a floor pole lamp then you would have one end on the floor and the other end pressing against the ceiling to hold it up. Then there is the other type that goes in your attic . It sort of looks like a co-phased mirror set up . You have to attach it to the rafters in your attic . You could also do a search for your question . Its not hard to do its just finding the right location in your home.

Display fades
Does it continue to work other than the readout or does it go dead?? It sounds to me like a bad solder joint on the readout circuit board. It will take an experienced tech to repair it.
How to program a crystal realistic pro-54 scanner
If it is indeed a crystal controlled scanner then there is no programming involved. You have to remove a crystal and reinstall a different one with the freq. you need. There is a few places online that will still build you a new crystal/crystals. Won't be cheap, personally I'd spend the money for a new scanner. The old ones have went a little out of tune with heat and age.
How so i pick station on my Radio Shack police scanner?
I have never used a scanner of that type but I have seen them in use and know the principle of operation.
If you are certain the radio is working and have checked with the instruction manual that you are operating it the correct way with any squelch control turned down and the volume turned up there should be a loud hissing from the speaker indicating the radio is ready to receive as soon as it is either tuned to the specific frequency of a station by direct entry or by scanning one or more bands of frequencies.
If there is no hissing noise it is possible the audio output is faulty or the aerial is not connected or the radio is otherwise faulty.
If the hissing noise is present and powerful and still nothing is being received it is possible there is nothing to receive or a more powerful aerial is needed.
It is worth noting many scanners available in the past tended to scan bands of frequencies in the upper and lower vhf bands where the aircraft, marine and emergency services radios operated. Since those days many of those services have moved their communications into the UHF bands leaving the vhf bands relatively empty.
