Why won't my toshiba 27df46 come on quickly?

Leaky or blown capacitors, probably in the power supply board. If your not competent get someone who is as there are high voltages inside even when the tv is off or not working

Toshiba SD-V295KU DVD/VCR Setup

Hi, David.

This unit does not have a TV tuner built in. It can record only from a video/audio source such as a satellite receiver or cable box. That's why you can't find anything in the manual about programming a channel. It doesn't offer that capability.

Not the answer you were looking for, but that's what they give you. The only solution I can offer is to keep your old VCR or pick one up at a thrift shop, and use it as the signal source. Program it to come on at the desired time on the channel you want, and use its video/audio outputs as the source for your recorder. Program the recorder to start at the same time.

Kinda klunky, but it would work.

Try going into the picture settings in the options. Many Toshiba TVs have the option to move the picture up, down, left, and right. See if you are able to position the TV to the left more.

Also, see if there is a reset button in the options. A setting may have been switched that caused this.

Toshiba 27DF46 27" TV started only turning on

Bad solder connections on an older TV is common. Check all your solder grounds on anything mounted on heatsinks. The other thing is bad capacitors. Always suspect the 160 volt to 250 volt at 1 MF, 2.2Mf or 4.7Mf for being bad. This is true for many repairs for any brand of TV.

Hello, I purchased my Toshiba

There are several different options to solve your problem. You should be able to program your cable box remote to replace many (but probably not all) of the functions of the Toshiba TV remote that you're missing. Read the user manual that came with your cable box remote to find out how to program it to control different types of components. It's not very difficult and that would be your least expensive option. Another suggestion is to buy a "universal replacement remote" that are sold in many electronics stores. Once you program those universal remotes, they will perform most/many of the functions of the original (Toshiba) manufacturer's remote. A "universal replacement remote" can cost anywhere from $20 to well over $100 depending on how many electronic components you want to control. My best suggestion would be to buy a replacement remote that was specifically made for your Toshiba model 27DF46 TV. There are many companies on the Internet which sell those remotes specifically made for your TV. The cost is usually between $25 - $35. One last inexpensive option would be if you already have any other Toshiba components (like a Toshiba DVD player), in many cases, the remotes are nearly identical and will provide most or all of the same functions. I would start by trying whichever option makes the most sense for your particular situation. Good luck.

No picture, message on black

Hi.

The problem is caused by a faulty digital tuner board. The please wait is caused by the TV going in channel auto search indefinitively, this is caused by a faulty SD tuner board.
Replacing the part will usually fix the problem. If digital tuner is OK, go for the EEPROM located on main digital board: Memory Data AT24.
If the EEPROM is defective, then it will loose programming and it will ask the digital board for re-tuning. A problem with this part may have the same effect.
To do thing properly, before replacing any board, parts such as PSU, soldering joints etc. must be tested, the job should be done by a technician.

Here the part:Digital Tuner ENG36A49KF
If you think that the comment had been helpful, then please do not forget to accept the solution.

Thanks.

Ginko.

Lost sound on Toshiba 27DF46

Well, I solved the problem.  First of all, I should have left it on "ant" and left the Television to figure out whether there was a DVD in it or not.  Then, I had the wrong channel which was just plain stupid.  But the weirdest thing is that my remotes are not working and they were fine.  I changed the batteries and no luck, so I will have to see what is what with that.  Fortunately, even though they won't turn things on, they will work the volume.  I have a feeling our new wireless system is having some kind of effect on them.  Great.

The set is trying to auto program the available channels and it can't find any because since the change from analog to digital [FEB 2009] broadcasting requires a "converter box" to translate the digital signal back to analog. Check around and see if you can find a converter box. They were available for $20 with a coupon, maybe they still are. Try an electronics shop or dealer for that info.

Picture limited to a single pixel horizontal line, sound fine

This is actuall quite a simple problem... What you have explained here is a loss of vertical deflection. By the symptoms you described, working now and not working it's most likely the the vertical IC an LA7847-E has probably become ring-cracked at the point where the pins are soldered to the pc board. Depending on how long it has been allowed to arc the IC may have failed also, but they are not terribly expensive or difficult to repair - at least not here in the shop. The main board has to be removed. Locate the vertical IC - it will be mounted to a metal heat sink and the IC will be stamped LA7847. Then turn the board over and inspect where the pins are soldered to the foil side of the board. One or more will look ring cracked or fractured all the way around the pin. At this point you have two options, carefully reflow solder over each pin and put it back together or replace the IC by de-soldering it and removing it from it's heatsink. remember to use a good heat sink grease when applying the new IC.. There should also be a couple of caps in pretty close proximity to that IC... One should be about 50v/100uf and in the shop here we test em all... You might also just replace that one for good measure - they're not expensive either... If any of this sounds too complicated take it to a reputable shop and pick it up in a day or two.. Job shouldn't be that expensive or time consuming. My record in the shop here for doing those is 15 in one day. Average cost for that set, we charge is under $100 if you bring it in and pick it up.. Hope this helps Bill If you're calling around to the repair shops you might just ask if they have that IC on-hand or if they will need to order it..

Connecting VCR to TV

If you have the original remote controller, try to switch inputs. It must be on the f-connection ( coaxial) at the moment. You need to switch it to RCA or S-Video Inputs.
