i have seen before that model have some problems with the lamp door switch. check the back of the tv and make sure that the lamp door is secure otherwise it can be possibly a color wheel or even lamp failure. if you have never replaced the lamp then i would lean more towards that as the root of your problems.

SAMSUNG HL-S5687W My Samsung DLP is shutting
Hello,
its the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the TV there are few capacitors and IC.any of this ic is got short or may be weak.so due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop.
I hope this will help in solving the problem......

The Blinking light is an error code, most likely you just need to replace the bulb which is fairly easy, there is an access panel on the back and you should be able to replace your self. A new bulb should include basic instructions here is a link price is $110

MY SAMSUNG HL-S5687W TURNS OFF BY ITSELF.
From what I have read the most frequent solution to this problem is that the lamp door has become loose and that microswitch on it needs to be reset. Simply loosen the screw to the lamp door and open it a little bit and then close it again making sure that the door is closed tightly and retighten the screw.
Unfortunately, the second most common problem is that the main DMD digital board has developed a problem which is much more expensive to replace.

Samsung HL-S5687W dlp tv, the picture is darker
Hi
Well for what you describe it sounds like the symptoms of a worn out lamp giving you the last kicks, basically the the lamps are design to go for 6,000 to 8,000 lamp hours if they're Phillips and a generic lamp could give you 3500 to 4500 lamp hours so with this in mind you could search for a new lamp at Discount-merchant.com or you can go to Ebay also you can go to www.fixyourdlp.com for more troubelshooting
Please rate this if it was helpful.as I do this for free.

Tv keeps shutting off with standby and lamp light
Good Day sir/maam, if your TV shuts off regularly, means that the power supply section is overloading, this may be due to faulty parts inside your TV, or either the AC mains in the community is to low or to high. If you want you can temporarily use a spare Auto voltage regulator with 500 watts, use it to levelize the AC main, if symptoms still persist, you may need to call for service. hope this helps. thanks
