Dewalt DW8306 36-Grit. 4-1/2" Blue Zirconia 7/8" Arbor Resin Fiber Disc - Page 9 Questions & Answers
Bevel gears are worn
Most common repair for this saw
1) remove blade & blade housing guard plate
2) You will find 2 allen head screws holding the elevating screw bracket
This will allow you to move the gears apart to replace
Remove the small retaining ring and slide the gear off (be careful not to lose the woodruff key when you slide the gear off)
Typically we find that the 2 rods (elevating shafts) are bent and this causes the resistance that strips the gears out - I always replace the 2 rods and the elevating screw when replacing the gears - you already have it apart and the parts are inexpensive.

Lubrication and maintenance reciprocal saw DeWalt
Before you attempt any of this I would recommend going to Dewaltservicenet.com and see what the inside of this tool looks like. It appears that you need to remove part of the front gearcase to get into the lube. The back e.g. brushes is not that big of a deal. If there is a Service Center near you they have a Max repair rate that they will fix anything on this saw at a preset firm price and if it is less that is what they would charge.

Dewalt 743 how to replace the brushes
If the motor body has two large screws on the outside, then you can remove them and install new brush set. If there isn't, then you have to take the motor apart and install them. Try to look up the saw and get a parts break-down picture or drawing first.

Blade stopped
Yes there is a gear inside that may be damaged. It might also be the pin on the gear that has snapped . Not such an expensive repair. Until you look inside you won't know.
