The first thing I'd check is running it with the blade off . Could be locked up somehow. I'd also check the spindle lock . If it's stuck down it locks the gears up .

In your service Manuel you'll find the location of the safety triggers. It's highly possible one of them has a bad connection. Very briefly and carefully jump each one till you see a change to eliminate them one by one.

A lot of issues could be here---broken lead---bad switch---plug on lead faulty---bad brush(es)---broken wire internally---burned out---receptacle faulty---was it working the last time it was used and what happened in-between then and now???? this is like trying to cut hair over the telephone but more info is needed..
