I have the same exact issue, even went and exchanged it for another one, and same issue on this one too. which Xbox do you have? i have the MW2 limited one. Possibly its tied to this, not sure. I have searched google for about 2 hours now, no luck.

The error code 80070017 indicates a read error in one of the installation files. This may be caused by a corrupt installation medium (dirty, scratched or otherwise defective DVD; image burn process went wrong in case you created the DVD yourself from an image; defective memory if installation from USB stick). The file may also got faulty on download; try to download the installation image again. If the error persists, clean your DVD burner, use quality media and lower the burn speed.

Well this might be a problem with your disc reader rather than the discs, sometimes the eye just needs to be cleaned but if you are looking for a quick fix then try instead of closing the disc tray with the button, try pushing it closed with your hand. Don't be afraid to put a little force but this worked for me until i got the guts to open up my xbox.

this happened to my friend he was told to put the xbox into the freezer for about an hour . if that doesnt work then you should bring it to your local game store and they could help . oh yeah by the way it is called red ring

its a small bug whit the game or it can be becourse you exit or the consol shut down
