I spilled water on my gas stove.. out of 5 , 3

Sounds like water got into one of the burner switches. It may dry out and stop or you are going to have to replace the switch. If taking apart to replace I would replace all the ones that got wet when the water spilled.

How do i remove top

Most range tops for gas appliance can be lifted up by hand.
You may have a set of screws located just under the top just above the oven door. You should open your oven door and look up at the bottom of the range top to see if there are in fact any screws, if so remove them then lift.
If no screws you may need a small flat screwdriver to help lift the top. It does have a couple of snap clips that will hold it firm but they are just to hold it from moving during normal use.
Remember to remove your burner grates first.

The oven sometimes does not work when turned on,

Hi,

This is a common problem with these models. This is highly suggestive of ' Faulty Ignitor '.Its a common problem with all gas stoves the ignitor wont get hot enough to burn off all the gas coming from the safety valve.it does glow but not the white hot it should.

Its the ignition system they use now instead of a constant pilot.

And if not replaced it will get worse.

Here is more info for you on the problem.

You may even see the orange "glow plug" (called a hot surface igniter) glowing orange and so assume that it's OK. Not necessarily!! You have to measure the current/amp drawn by the igniter :-

http://www.applianceaid.com/electrical_testing_tips.html

Compare it to this repair sheet before you can say it's OK or not :-

http://www.applianceaid.com/images/hot-surface-ignsheet.jpg

The gas valve has a bi-metal that open when a certain amount of current flows through it to heat it up. The igniter is wired in series with the gas valve. As the ignitor gets older or weaker, it's resistance increases to the point where not enough current is flowing to the gas valve bimetal to open it up. As a result, the gas valve never opens up. BTW, a common symptom of the early stages of this problem is erratic temperature control in the oven due to delayed firing of the bake burner while cooking.

The hot surface ignitor will not come on - check ignitor with a ohm meter, you should have continuity through the glow bar, the glow bar can also crack = new ignitor time. The glow bar comes on but the main burner will not light - you should have an amp probe to check properly, but often this is a hot surface ignitor problem. The hot surface ignitor often looses it's ability to get hot enough to open the gas safety valve. The safety valve can fail, but most times it is just a bad hot surface ignitor. The hot surface ignitor can also quit part way through cooking , in other words the oven may cycle a couple of times and then it just sits there with the red glow from the ignitor. See this service sheet for the proper way and amp readings for the hot surface ignitor system :-

http://www.applianceaid.com/images/hot-surface-ignsheet.jpg

Hot surface ignitors do weaken and will eventually generate less heat than they normally could. When this happens they can still allow marginally correct current to flow to the oven gas valve for it to open but not get quite hot enough to ignite the gas burner immediately. When this happens, gas released into the oven can sometimes build up to the point where when finally ignited, the amount of gas lit can cause a small explosion inside the oven or cause an odor of gas with out the oven working. Yes, your glow bar ignitor can glow orange-red and still be bad!! How a common gas valve works :-

Getting an F4 reading trying to turn on oven

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F4 in your range/oven means oven temperature sensor failure. To resolve this issue you’ll have to check the oven temp. sensor circuit if the reading is more then 1100ohms then it should be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Try unplugging the range for about 15 minutes. The ERC (electronic Range Control) may reset itself. If you still have the fff code on the control it will need to be changed out.

I recently purchased a used ARG 7300 gas range in

You know I never thought about it but my stove you can do that with also. You can go right by the "lite" position and have gas coming with out it actually lighting and I have seen other stoves that are like you said. So I would say that the serviceman did everything correctly. It is up to the user to be responsible and make sure that the stove lights in a timely way when they are using it.

How to replace oven igniter on amana ACS3350AS gas

The following link explains step-by-step how to replace an igniter in a gas range:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

The replacement process is pretty standard with nearly all gas ranges. You can go to appliancepartspros.com for reference drawings to assist you as well. The oven burner assemblies are listed under the "Cavity" section.

If you have not purchased an igniter yet, the part number is AP4041245. If the connector plug does not match, there should be instructions that direct you to splice the wires using ceramic wire lugs. DO NOT use standard wire lugs. They will melt due to the high heat in the oven. The wires and connectors on these oven igniters are heat resistant. If ceramic lugs are not included with the igniter, you may have to purchase them separately. The part number is AP3440631.

This is a fairly simple repair, but if you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Oven won`t come on

If the bake manifold is the only feature that does not work, your problem may be as simple as replacing the igniter. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

Both manifolds in the oven are fed from the same gas source and regulator, and they each have their own igniter. If the broiler is working, its not a gas issue. The only other problem that can cause one manifold to fail and the other to light is a bad relay on the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board. This is the clock assembly on the operator console. The igniter is a cheaper option and the more common fail item. I would recommend checking the igniter first.

Replacement igniters (if needed) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
appliancepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop all of them for the best deal.

NOTE: If the connector plug on the replacement igniter you receive does not match the existing igniter, you should be instructed to cut the wires and splice them using ceramic wire lugs that should be included with the kit. Do not use standard wire lugs as they will melt. The ceramic lugs and the wiring to the igniter are heat resistant.

If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My gas range display changed to "5Ab" and does not work anymore.

You are set to Sabbath mode.
Try holding the clock button in for 5 seconds and that may correct it.

The oven is not getting hot

Check the valve in the back under the broiler. You can put a volt meter on it and see what you are getting. If it is not opening properly that could be bad. The other thing could be that the valve on the knob is bad and then that needs to be replaced both can be checked with a volt meter.
If you are happy with my hlp please rate. Thank you

Amana broiler problem

Each burner manifold in the oven has its own igniter. If the igniter is defective, the burner assembly will not light. The igniter has to be functioning properly in order for the gas safety valve to open. This is a designed safety feature that prevents free flowing gas from entering the oven cavity without ignition. This reduces the risk of explosions.

There should be a flame spreader metal plate covering the access over the broiler. You will need to access the broiler so you can view the broiler manifold and igniter. Turn the oven setting to broil and make sure the igniter begins to glow. If the igniter fails to glow, replace it. If the igniter does glow, but you still do not have ignition after 90 seconds, the igniter may be weak and still require replacement. The following link explains oven igniter types, their current potential, and how to replace them:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know before you rate the solution. I hope this helps you.
