Lite On LH-18A1P DVD RW Dual Layer Burner - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Its coming up for me as an IDE device at the below links..
can't seem to bring up any SATA related links at all...

it does not support light scribe.

insert correct cd rom comes only in 2situations

1. if the software requires to start with the help of cd. try to start program with cd inserted in CD ROM
2. software is pirated. if it is pirated then in the cd there must be folder named "crack" in it. copy all the files of crack in program files of software

If you are trying to copy store bought dvds most have anti copying protection built in which will not allow a dvd burner to recognize them. I hope this helps.

I have two LITE-ON DVD DRW LH-18A1P on drive (E:) and drive (F:) It has gone from everything working great to not being able to burn a DVD. When placing a DVD into either (E:) or (F:) it shows up in my Window's Explorer as a CD drive.... Only allowing me to burn a CD in these drives.... Can play past burnt DVD's though in both both drives.... hve tried a couple of different brand disc, LG and TDK and get the same message appears 'to please insert a dics', need help I do!!! lcs2

Same thing just happened to me, trying to find a solution as I write, if I find anything I will post back!

If your product was made before july 2007 you could try the firmware offered here on the lite-on website. Download the firmware zip file and extract then run the exe file inside.

Whats wrong is that most probably the "Error Correction" circuitry is having huge trouble "Correcting" the "Errors" probably caused by a failing Laser Diode, & OR a faulting "Quadrant detector" inside ya DVD. This is the usual cause I have found with this type of thing. These are very common problems that seem to occur all to frequently if you ask me...

1. check for keyboard stuck keys. 2. Clean memory and Memory slot well and fix back memory. 3. check capacitors close to the memory slot if they are not damaged, if damaged replace the capacitor with a new capacitor.

Yes. DVD drives are intercompatable for the most part.these days. just pull out the old one, install the new one, and the OS will install the drivers and it will work just fine.
