In all probability the Seagate came with a proprietary Backup software. Look for it on the drive or on the Seagate website. Hi Jeff The head and guides should not need adjusting on this drive. This was a common issue on HP drives but no adjustment should be needed on this model. If you are having R/W issues then try a cleaning tape and then a brand new data tape. If that doesn't work then i think replacement is the best option.
