To do this, use a small screwdriver to pop off the plastic shielding where
the zune cable plugs into and remove the two screws on either side of the plug.
Next pop the cover off and locate the battery plug at the top left corner of the
zune, using your screw driver, pop the cable connection half way off, and do
this to the other plug on the right side. Wait 3 seconds, then push down the
right connector and then the left battery connecter. Your zune should start up
immediately. Press the backing of the zune down (make sure headphone jack is
aligned) and put the screws and cover back in place.
It's an easy process but if you're unsure don't attempt it.
Have you downloaded or have the disk and installed the latest updated software program from the Zune web site? You need the Zune software to sync music or videos to your player if you haven't done so yet. You also need to setup your software and name your Player so that the software recognizes it. Also where are you trying to download music from? From the Zune website, from another website, off of your computer? Can you please give more details of what is going on? I've had Zune players since 2006 since they came out, so maybe I can help if you can explain more.

Hit the Back and Up buttons then when the screen goes black press the Back button, left touch pad, and center touch pad. That should clear everything off the Zune. :)
I turned on my Zune and the screen froze so I turned it off but it would not turn back on.
I went online and read somewhere that if the screen freezes then you should press up and back and wait for the zune insignia to come on. Well my zune was not just frozen it would not go on but I tried the up and back thing and it worked. it took about 9-13 seconds but it worked so give it a chance and if that doesn't work try charging it overnight. Hope that helps :D
Open up the Zune software. Go to Collection from the Zune software menu and then select Pictures. Right click on the picture you want to delete. Choose if you want to keep the item on your computer or just remove it from your Zune collection or remove it entirely. Connect your Zune and then let it sync with the software.
Recommend a blog to you, it mainly about how to free download video to your portable device from social Video Website. http://onlinevideodownloader.net/ hope it can help you more or less!
You can try this, but since it has been awhile since it happened there is not much you can do to help it now. First remove any type of power to the unit, batteries, plug to the wall ect. Sometimes you can take the equipment apart, remove as much as you can safely and pat the wet areas with a dry slim towel or any other way that will remove moisture and not break and internal parts, and then right away use a blow dryer to evaporate any remaining moisture. Make sure you do not melt any plastic parts. If you have the proper chemical's you could clean the board, but that would really take a professional to do. After that let it sit out in a safe area and if possible with some ventilation to it. Wait until the next day and then put it back together and give it a try. if you see any smoke at all, or hear any unusual sounds coming from it (popping, crackling ect.) turn it off and forget about it.
If it does start to work, it may not last long. Once the copper circuit traces and the metal leads get contaminated with moisture they will continue to oxidize even after cleaning them off. The life span has been shortened at best. And it could cause a fire or electric shock at worst.
Sorry to give you the bad news, I do wish you luck, but your best bet is to just get a new one. This one will never be the same again even if it does start working. You could end up wasting a lot of time and effort.
Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
This sounds like it is a battery issue but it could be something else. This week we're offering 10% off Zune repairs, if you haven't already fixed your Zune keep us in mind.
Ok, so I just recently had this same problem. I m not gonna lie, I dropped mine and only the back light came on. but, I did a hard reset which is back key, and up key at the same time. then it wouldnt even play music. So I attached it to my laptop to let it sync with my zune. then I charged it. And put it in "deep sleep mode" which is back button and down on the directional pad. after that i turned it on, and started hitting some random keys. And now it works, except I dont know what song is playing till i hear. But it will buy me time at least. best of luck.
if the drive makes a clicking sound it needs to be tossed. if it's just a soft trgg sound, (bad sector) then you can try a low level format LLF tool. a guide on how to install drive is a Zune Repair
You can try a reset your Zune…. There are 2 ways we can do this.....the first way is to erase everything from the Zune through the software that’s running on your pc...Open up your Zune program with the Zune connected toyour PC…. then go to Settings -> Device -> Sync options -> erase all content….. If that dosent work then try the second option...Press and hold the back + center + left buttons and the Zune will delete everything it has on it, as well as the firmware. Here is a link to a video that will walk you through the 2nd option...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BqqlDwtYbQ If you do the second option you will need to go to the Zune website and do the update on the firmware here is that link http://www.zune.net/en-US/setup Good luck and let me know how this worked out....if you don’t want to then just please leave me a rating.. cbinny1
