Machine error 7a on brother mfc8640d

For the error code "7a" to be fixed permanently, you need to ensure that the main PCB is fine and is working in good condition.
If the error code is caused due to malfunctioning of the main motor, then you need to check the whole setup by connecting it with another motor.
In this case, make sure that there is no mechanical load present on the main board.
While fixing this error code, you will notice that the motor runs slowly initially and then picks up the speed later.

How can I scan files to pdf using Brother

You will need to open the control center program which is installed when you install the printer on your computer.

Start, all programs, Brother, control center. Click on configuration then scan then file (or which ever you normally scan to). There are two tabs at the top, change the file type at top of each tab to pdf and press ok.

Brother Scanner, scans the page but prints black and vertical

I called technical support for this issue previously with my brother mfc. It would only do this during color scanning. b&w scanning was just fine. The tech support put me through resetting the reference point of the scanner through a series of button pressing and closing and opening the paper feeder. I kept gettting the same lousy results. Then they determined that the scanner module needs replacing and I needed to take to the nearest service center.

I have the Fuser Open message

This is most probably a failure in the Fuser assembly heater element.
The fuser is the unit in the back of the machine where the hot rollers sit.

If you are not competant at fixing electronic equipment then you will need a service technician to fix this. High voltages are present at the fuser.

Vertical line on Brothe MFC 8460N

To solve the printing problem..

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Hope this help. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
