20 Most Recent IO Magic Corporation GigaBank (I250HD35) 250 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Page 5 Questions & Answers

There are a variety of things that can malfunction on your external hard drive:
1) The cable
2) The external hard drive casing
3)  The hard drive itself

If you have tried plugging in your hard drive to different computers and are still having the same issue, then there is either a problem with your casing or with the hard drive itself, because you've already switched out cables.
If your hard drive casing has malfunctioned, then retrieving your data is as simple as putting the hard drive inside another hard drive enclosure.  Hard drive enclosures are available at any local computerstore, and also available by going to our website at www.iomagic.com and clicking on Drive Enclosure.  Make sure to get the right size enclosure.  The GigaBank 320 has a 3.5" Hard Drive inside it, which is a standard desktop hard drive.

If you put your hard drive in another enclosure and it still won't show up on any of your computers, then your best bet at retrieving your data is to contact a data recovery specialist.   After you have retrieved your data, we will replace your unit if you are still within your warranty period.

For specific warranty and replacement information, go to www.iomagic.com  and click on Support.

The I250HD35 is plug-and-play with Windows XP. That means that all of the drivers needed to run your hard drive are included in Windows.

If your computer is asking for drivers when you plug in your drive, one of two things is probably happening:

1) Windows XP doesn't know where to look for the right drivers

2) Your drive has malfunctioned

The easiest way to assess which of these is happening is to take your drive and plug it into another computer that is running Windows XP. If it is detected properly on the other machine, then your computer doesn't have the right drivers or is looking in the wrong place for them. If it doesn't, then I/O Magic will be happy to replace your drive if it is still within the warranty period

If it is detected properly on another Windows XP machine, then when it asks for drivers, make sure to point it to the WindowsINF directory. This is where the default drivers are located.

If your drive is not detected properly on the other computer, your drive is probably experiencing a hardware malfunction. Please visit the I/O Magic website at www.iomagic.com and click on Support for specific return information.

Have a nice day,

Unfortunately the hard drive within the external case has died. The clicking noise you can hear is the read / write heads trying to find anything on the platter and failing, this means that any files that were on the drive are lost. There are many tricks on the net that give hope of recovering data off a dead hard drive but most just corrupt the data completely. If you have files that you must have and can afford the extremely high price for data recovery there are services available through most hard drive manufactures, most notably through Seagate.

Sounds like the Hard drive inside is nearing the end of its life. The best way to get your files off it is to remove the hard drive from the external case and install it directly into your computer tower (or get someone who is computer savy to do it).Once in your computer you have a much better chance of recovering your files and even fixing the drive for future use.

All you need to do is ask at a computer parts store for an external hard drive enclosure.Take the hard drive with you and they will be able to give you the correct size, there are 3 sizes available, 1.8" (has a drive the same as an ipod in it), 2.5"(has a laptop /notebook hard drive in it), and a 3.5"(has a full size desktop hard drive in it).

The other option is you could just completely remove the drive from the io magic case and install it into your computer as an extra drive.

it is possible you have a bad drive now as they cant be moved while on. However, turn it off let it cool down. Turn off the computer it was on. now disconnect it from both Data and wall for hard drive. give it say 20-30 minutes. put it back in the correct position, and try turning it on. after it has come up to speed plug it back into the computer. if you hear a sound try to compare it to one of these. you will notice that they have a play button next to the sounds.

Also IO magic isn't the hard drive manufacture IO uses other brands of hard drives to put inside their units. http://datacent.com/hard_drive_sounds.php these guys have a great sound of some failed drives.

if the drive can reset itself then all will be back to normal. if not you will need to do a drive test call them to find out what they recommend.

The Proscan PBTW274 smart watch does not have a memory card slot. There may be a memory card slot (SD, microSD) in the smartphone/tablet that you have synchronized with the smart watch. If you have a memory card in that phone, then you can use the smart watch app to send photos directly to the SD card instead of the main memory of the phone. The only documentation for the PBTW274 on the product site, https://www.curtisint.com/product/pbtw274/ , is in French. That manual is here: http://legacy.curtisint.com/html/CustService/Manuals/Smart%C2%A0Watch%C2%A0Manual-PBTW274%20French.pdf . I hope this helps. The manual jumps from the brief mention of the watch features to a long list of tools in the app. I found it unclear at first,as well. Cindy Wells
