Need freeagent pro driver for window 8.1

If your disk is not working with Windows 8.1 (connect it, and watch to see if there is bubble at the bottom right of your screen which says 'found new hardware', and 'searching for divers' then 'your new hardware is installed and ready to use': this will only happen the first time you connect your HDD to your computer and possibly only if you are connected to the internet).. If your HDD isn't recognised by your computer, specifically by your computer's USB system, contact Seagate support over the problem. 25.April.20-14Other I

Unlock password

If it's the system BIOS asking for the hdd unlock password, just open up the computer, locate the cmos jumper on the motherboard, move it from pins 1&2 to 2&3 for about 5 - 10 seconds. Then move it back to its original position and turn the computer on. This should clear any passwords set in the BIOS.

Seagate Freeagent external Hard drive won't increase free space when files are deleted?

How are you deleting the files? If you're simply moving them to the trashcan/recycle bin then they're still taking space on your drive. Try emptying the trashcan/recycle bin.

Hard drive ned repair

Depending upon what is wrong with the hard drive it most likely cannot be repaired. When a hard disk makes a clicking sound and the computer does not detect it then the hard disk is faulty. This is commonly known as "The click of death". There is no way of fixing this hard drive, if you need to recover your data, then there are companies that can recover data off faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

The Instant Backup on my Seagate Freeagent Goflex portable drive says the backup is complete in one area, then says backup in progress. It's been backing up the same file for about eight hours, "

How big is the file you are transferring ? The FAT32 format does not support single files larger than 5GB, so if you have a file larger than 5GB you cannot put it on your FAT32 thumb drive. Most thumb drives and other portable media devices use FAT32 format, so this setback makes large files less portable, and that just won't do. Get around this problem by compressing the of the file or by splitting the file up into multiple pieces. Create a folder for your RAR file and insert a copy of the original file into this folder. RARing a file separates it into multiple pieces, so creating a file specifically for your RAR file will keep the files together allowing you to move one folder to your FAT32 device instead of having to locate and move multiple files. Right click the large file that you want to put on a FAT32 device. Select "Add to archive" from the menu that appears to the side. Select "RAR" from the "Archive Format" located to the left of the menu. Click the arrow next to "Split by volume, bytes," and select "CD 700: 700mb." This will create a new file for every 700mbs, meaning your your one large file will be separated into many 700mb files that can be put back together as a single file later. Click "OK." Put the folder, containing your newly separated files, onto your FAT32 device after WinRAR has finished separating the file. b> Zip File b> Right click the large file you want to put on a FAT32 device. Select "Add to archive" from the menu that appears to the side of the file. Click "OK" on the next menu. This menu allows you to customize the compression settings. The only option you need to change is the "RAR" selection to "ZIP" in the "Archive Format." The rest of the default settings will work fine, so there's no need to change anything else. The zipped file will appear in the same folder as the original. Delete the copy of the original large file from the folder and put your newly compressed file on your FAT32 device after the file has completely compressed. The time it takes for the file to finish compressing depends on the of the file. Hope this helps. http://www.all-freeware.com/getfreeware.html?pid=109090&mirror=1

My Hard Disk does not detected and is diaplaying an unspecified drive

Check the Drive Partition in Disk Management

Even though the drive may not be visible on the Desktop or in My Computer check to see if the drive is recognized in Disk Management

Right click on My Computer and select Manage from the menu From the Computer Management window select Disk Management from the menu on the left

In Disk Management check to see if the drive is visible

If the drive is found look at the partition for the drive

New drives will be labelled as FAT32 and have a drive letter assigned if it does not you can assign a drive letter right click on the drive select rename or it might have some other options

If the drive does not display as Healthy or shows the file format as RAW then the partition has become corrupt

It could also be corrupt if the bar above the drive is black and shows as Unallocated

To make the drive usable again after a partition has become corrupt or lost start by right clicking on the drive in Disk Management and select Delete partition from the menu

Then right click on the drive again and select create partition from the menu

Follow the steps in the partition wizard to create a Primary partitionNOTE: Deleting the partition will cause all data on the drive to be lost. If the partition has become corrupt this may be unavoidable

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies is not responsible for lost data

It is highly recommended that data be backed up in multiple locations on multiple drives to minimize data lossAfter the new primary partition has been created Disk Management will display the drive with an NTFS partition

hope it helps

With the original freeagent disk in hand, call Seagate and ask if they can give you the product key based upon the serial number on the disk drive. If you purchased freeagent on line and downloaded , they will have a copy of your invoice purchase. Just contact them and ask again for your product key.

PLEASE HELP? Why is my Seagate Freeagent 2 TB GoFlex ST2000DL003 beeping?

the only thing I can suggest it to try running the Windows new hardware wizard and see if you can reinstall the drive. Sometimes you can pick up hardware with that wizard. You could go into computer management which is under the administrative tools menu and see if either of the device driver tag there is a mention of the hard drive there. If you find one that matches your hard drive you can right click on it and delete it. Then you can run the wizard again and see if it will recognise your hard drive.Have you tried it on another computer?Hope this helpsregards
