you can use a external sata case to read your hard drive.
remove the casing off the seagate freeagent to get to the hard drive.
you need to get a 3.5" external sata case.
you can get one from newegg.com or at your local fry's
this is what i have
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153066&cm_re=thermaltake_sata-_-17-153-066-_-Product
which supports both 3.5" and 2.5" sata hard drives.

I have seagate 500 gb
Hello!
I suggest you to download
Recuva. When you run it the first time a wizard will help you to setup everything you need to restore the lost data(if it`s recoverable).
Good luck

Cant access my drive
Try a Chkdsk on it.
Start - Run - type: cmd
In the DOS box type:
chkdsk_H:_/f_/r (don't type in the underscores)
This will take a few hours, if it's recognized.

When I plug my seagate
try a different usb drive. if you are using win 7 or vista uninstall that device driver you downloaded. if its xp re install your usb drivers from the windows site just go to your device manager
win 7 vista click on computer sys prop device manager see if drive is connected hit update driver or roll back. same with usb system on win xp right click my comp. go to prop, then device manager let me know if this helps. but really important to make sure that you are plugged into a usb port in the back of the pc not thru a hub

Seagate freeagent Go 640 gb
Try using a different computer to access the hard drive. If another computer cannot access the hard drive, then most likely the hard drive itself is corrupted, and you need to reformat or replace it.

How do you take the base off? I don't have the
Unfortunately you need to prize the bottom of the base away from the top of the base (essentially cutting it in half) which can be done without damaging it if you are careful. Once the bottom half is removed there will be three (or four, my memory is failing me but they are in plain sight!) small screws which once removed allow the base to be removed. Good luck!

250 gb seagate external hard
Sounds like the drive is dying. Your only hope might be to try a scandisk and defrag. From My Computer, right click on the drive and go to Properties. Select the Tools tab. Run the Error-Checking tool and make sure all check boxes are selected. Once that finishes, run a defrag from the same menu. If those don't work, the drive is likely done. Sorry.

Seagate FreeAgent Go 320 GB.
Is
Humming sound is not good. I would recommend removing the drive from the enclosure and placing the hard drive into another enclosure for testing. Humming usually indicates a stuck spindle which will require a clean room to fix. It's best to take the drive to a local tech that can diagnose the drive while you watch.

PC does not see the
Your hard drive is bad, seagate is known to have this faulty promblem, there are many user out there who face the same situation that you have. The only solution to this, is to replace a new external harddrive, or buy a hard disk and insalled it inside the harddrive enclosure. You might be able to still recover any data that was stored in your harddisk if you take it to bestbuy, office depot or a place that willing to do a disk file recovery. It is costyl however.

How do i format large HDD into fat32..??
Please use NTFS file system so that you can format and access large hard drives also.
Please find the procedure below.
If you are using windows then
1. Right click on computer / My computer
2. Click on Manage
3. In the computer management window click on disk management in the left side
4. In the right side you will see all the disks and storage devices in your computer, you will also see the new hard drive connected to your computer.
5. If you see your new hard drive there and if it is not formated you can right click on that driver and choose to partition it and format it (decide if you have the entire 250 GB as one partition or if you need 2 or more partitions and then start of.
Thank you for contacting Fixya.com
