when I switch my laptop on I get a message saying "operating system not found"
Its NOT the hard drive itself. Its the master boot record on the hard drive that has failed. The master boot record is like an index or an address book of a hard drive. It hold records of whats on the hard disk and the physical location of files and directory's. What most likely happened was the computer was NOT shut down correctly and a power serge corrupted the master boot record or someone accidentally or purposely deleted files they should not have. If you are not able to follow jmorgan123 advice, the easiest way to fix this is to re-install windows using the recovery disk (operating system cd), HOWEVER you WILL loose all your files on your hard drive as you will need to reformat your drive during the re-install. If you are unsure how to install windows put the system recovery disc in the drive and follow the on screen prompts. If you still can get your computer working after you try a re-install of windows, maby your best bet is to return the computer under the warranty.

I own an acer aspire4310 notebook and i have just formatted it to xp.. my problem is sometimes(about once in 2 days) it will suddenly display a mix white and light blue stripes and will completely turn white in a few minutes.. upon restarting it seems to boot normally but the flaw repeats a few days later.. please help me..
I had the same problem but I was able to solve this problem. It was a connection problem between the lcd and the motherboard. I have bought contact spray and sprayed a little bit of it on the lcd connector. Since then everything is fine.

After I installed xp pro I have yellow ? in my device manager and a yellow ! on my Realtec wireless device and it says that it is unable to load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing Code 39.
The yellow ? are on the following devices, PCI Device, 3 PCI Flash memorys and a SM Bus controller.
My audio wont work, bluetooth niether. Whats up?

You need to install some drivers. Did this machine originally come with Vista?

Have a laptop but for some odd reason my screen crack when I close the lid/monitor. Trying to have it replace without buying another laptop. How can I hook laptop up to my desktop monitor until I can find a reasonable repair or replacement. Acer company was going to charge $650.00 for monitor repair and I paid $628.00 for Wal-Mart for the entire laptop. Please do the math and will never purchase another Acer product. Thanks
There is a port for monitor cable, just plug your monitor and boot up your laptop. You need to plug first and then power it on. it should use your monitor for display

I have Acer TravelMate 5510. Every time I switch on , I am asked to reboot or download the above Software

Everytime I open certain docs. I get told that "eDataSecurity was not properly installed! Please re-install the software" I then click Ok and the it says Windows explorer has stopped working.
It's becoming an anoyence considering I can't use my windows2007 anymore :(
Is there anything I can do to re-install eDataSecurity,so I can live out happy days with my computer and not decide to throw it out my window??

This solution is not resolving the problem to remove CMOS Battery for a few minutes. Do you have any authentic solution please?

how can i get back to facotry settings like i just bought it?
If windows is running you can start it by going to Programs, Acer Empowering Technology and run the Acer eRecovery Management. Note that on the bottom of the eRecovery Management window are 3 choices, Backup, Burn Disk and Restore. Click on Restore. Here you have the choice of select Restore System to Factory Default.
If windows is not working but the system boots -
Reboot the system and when the Acer logo appears, hold down the ALT key and press F10. This starts the recovery process, just follow the instructions.
