Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W35 Digital Camera - Page 8 Questions & Answers
My sony cybershot 12x camera is acting as if the
After reading everything, I'd say it is an internal error. Unfortunately digital cameras are so expensive to fix, you might as well just buy another camera.
Call Sony and ask them what they think, chances are they've seen this problem at least once before and would be a way bigger help than me. The repair might be cheaper than buying a new camera. The H2 is pretty decent.
Digital camera
Hey,
This is a problem that occurs often in all of the Sony Cybershot cameras. To fix this problem, hit the "Sony" logo on the front of the camera with one of your knuckles. I know it sounds abusive, but it works everytime! and with every Sony camera:)
Best of luck,
Matt
The viewing screen on the back is blank white.
Somkewhere after submitting the problem, I read a blog that instructed to press all five of the small buttons in the circle on the back while turning on the power. I took me twice and regained the viewfinder. They also had written that it may take a few times.
Turn the power off and on again
Hi
What you are seeing is a generic stuck lens error message:
Your
lens needs to be cleaned, repaired or replaced. There are online places that will do it for a
decent price and there are others that overcharge by way too much.
I know, because I own one that charges a reasonable price to do the
repair! (Google 'darntoothysam')
Just let us know if we can help!
You can also buy a defective camera online and use the parts to fix one from the two yourself.

Try resetting the camera to factory defaults. Sometimes it helps.
It can be done from Menu>setup>Initialize .
Windows 98 Driver required for sony cyber-shot dsc-w35
Windows 98 is not officially supported by Sony for the DSC-W35. You can find hacked versions on the web but they may not be stable. You can find a list of supported Operating Systems here at the Sony website.
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DSCW35&LOC=3
I would suggest trying to use the Windows ME drivers. Windows ME was based on Windows 98 so the drivers for most applications are virtually identical. I have used 8 different drivers from other vendors in situations like this and it worked out fine. However, please be aware that since it is not officially supported it can cause interoperability options with your Windows 98 system.
This is the best suggestion I have. By no means should you get Windows ME, it was one of the worst versions of Windows released. Lots of bugs and there are less drivers for this operating system than your Windows 98.
My digi cam shows file error
Please format memory stick by going into camera menu and selecting format option there.
File error problem will be resolved.
I receive ''access'' error
The "Access" will stay there until your camera passes it's self lens test. The test runs 3 times, then gives up with an error message. The cause of this problem is most likely a grain of sand somewhere in the lens. Only a camera tech could possibly ever hope to find it. Replace the camera lens.
How to change language?
Click on the Menu button.
Scroll to Setup, it's the last one.
Scroll down to Setup 1, first tool box icon.
Scroll down to the 3rd menu.
Choose English from the list.
Format error
Format memory stick, if no data on it.
If there is data on memory stick, copy it on PC using any good card reader.
