Error 99
Hi. I can give you some advices, but be very careful!
What do you have to do?
Clean (very carefully) the 8 gold color lens contact pins on the camera body
lens mount. Be sure that you're doing good.
Remove your CF memory card and take out the camera's both batteries (the main one and the smaller date/time battery).
While the batteries are removed, turn on the camera and let it for like 5 minutes.
Turn your camera off and attach your CF memory card & your batteris where it belongs. Also, re-attach the lens. Turn your camera on.
You can also update your firmware!
I hope it works!
Canon EOS rebel XTi won't
Mcm,
Trying taking a Q-tip with some alcohol and cleaning the contacts inside the battery chamber. Also, you can take it to your local camera store and ask them to try it with one of their batteries to rule out if yours is dead.
Thank you.
Hi I have a Canon
I have read quite a lot about this infamous Error 99 on the Internet.
Rather than try to summarise or duplicate the information here, I'm
going to point you to someone who's already done just that, from bitter
experience, I think! There's a very comprehensive essay about the
various possible causes of
Error 99

Error 99
WHAT IS THE SOLUION OF ERROR 99
No date stamp on photos on Canon XTi camera
Most Canons don't seem to be able to embed the date on photos unless the resolution is set to "postcard mode", which is 1600 by something pixels. Set to that resolution, and then try to set the date mark feature (it will be greyed out when the resolution is not set to a compatible mode).
I have a Canon EOS
You can download the manual from

The self-timer is on page 49.
Error99 occurs when i use lenses not supplied with
The 99 error is usually associated with a faulty pin connection. on the lens to the pin on the camera. Hers a trick that has worked in the past.
Use a pencil with eraser attached, gold the lens mount down while at same time you hold at a height you can run the rubber over the pins on the mount. Do the aame on the camera ensuring you dont get rubber bits inside camera. Finish off with a blast of copmpressed air feom a can and re assemble 99% of the time E99 disappears.
Canon g6 camera lens error message repair
try these:-
- connect it to pc and on it
- vaccum the barrel of lens
- changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
- shake it.
- on and off in different positions
- hit the part near lens softly with palm (trust me this made mine work)
Canon EOS 400D will not power up
Generally a fuse blows on these, on the DC/DC converter (psu ) board. This is situated on the front of the camera, fairly easy to get at just involves undoing loads of screws!! The fuse is marked "K", replace or short out with a thin piece of wire. May be caused by changing lenses with the power on, but not sure.
Watch for the charged flash capacitor though!!
Had this problem with mine.

Error 99 comes up when I try to press the shutter.
This is what the people at the canon tech support say to do for error 99
read this!! :)
The guy at tech support listened and then told me that the lens contacts were dirty and to get a pencil with an eraser on the end, just a regular old pencil with a red rubber eraser. Detach the lens from the camera, hold it so that the lens’ gold contacts are pointing down and lightly erase their exposed surface, cleaning them of any hand oil that might have gotten on them.
Do the same thing with the gold contacts inside the camera body. This is a bit harder but it’s doable: just hold camera so lens opening points down so no gunk falls in. Erase lightly. I used a lens cloth and dabbed at the contacts rather than blow them so as not to blow the erasings inside the camera.
I did this to each of my three lenses just to be sure. Lo and behold, it worked
hope this works for you!!!! have a nice day!! :) :)
