Try pressing and holding the power button for 15 secs. If this does not work, look on the bottom of the unit where the USB plugs in to, there should be a small pinhole for a reset button. Press this and after it shuts off, try pressing and holding it for 15 secs.

Hi
USB hubs are available as "un-powered" and "powered". Your Jukebox will NOT work with an un-powered USB hub and may be unreliable with a powered USB hub. It is recommended for best results, that you connect your Jukebox directly to the USB port located on the back of your computer. First take a look if your battery is fully charged.You can also make a long press on the on/off button for 15 seconds; it will switch off the unit and your data will be not erased . If your device continues to stop and freeze, you have the possibility to format it from the settings menu; you can do this into settings, then select system and repair and format tools. Before doing this, you have to save all your files on your computer. Download the firmware from our Website.
Connect the device to the PC. Go in “My Computer”, you should see “Archos 504/604”.
Copy/Paste the firmware downloaded on “Archos 504/604”
Disconnect the device safely. Go to Setup > System > Update Firmware.

it has prongs that attach, tat was always my problem.

Simply you need to replace your media player battery with new one . It seems that the battery life is ended . When battery life is ended , it can't be recharged anymore .
If that didn't help , then you need to check if the power charger is in good condition . If the power charger is in good condition , then the problem will be with the charging jack . For charging jack problem , you need to take your media player to a repair shop .

My 160GB archos 504 hdd was badly fragmented. I
if you can use 10gb of your hardisk its means its not totally broken... first make sure theres no partition of your hdd... because hdd can split into 2 or 3 or more...example the first partition is 10 gb and the second partition is 50 gb and the ramaining partition is 100gb... try to format your hdd in... first click start right click my computer choose the manage and computer management will apear then click the disk management and it will show if your HDD is have partinion that no have drive letter just right click it and you can rename it or delete... or you can reformat it...

OK go to your local computer shop and ask for a 7200RPM 8MB Cache, 3GB/sec, 80GB SATA (It may be IDE, check) Drive. or one closely speced. Any brand is as good as another, perhaps try the brand the old one is if you can get that type.
I'm having problems connecting the docking station
you probably have corrupted files on the device, if you have windows media player, probably its the one that has created the corrupt files. try locate and delete them, also use another media player.

Unit crashes then will not restart after being unresponsive.
After removing the battery, I discovered a small brass reset button, about 3 mm in diameter, near the battery connection terminal. This was gently pressed with a pen for 15 seconds. After refitting the battery, the unit was fully functional again. This reset results in needing to set the clock again. No other settings are affected.
