NOTE: Due to a slight dent or notch in the cartridge installation chute, it may feel like the cartridge has been fully inserted, but may not be. Please push the cartridge in firmly to make sure it is fully inserted, but be careful not to push too hard and cause other problems.

Sometimes my screen goes blank also and I just hit the OK button, i6t might just be resting. Also, Unplug the printer and plug it back in. Seems to work for me when I have to stop a print job. It resets itself, I think.

In order for you to install this printer without the setup disc for it is to download the printer software/driver and use that to install the unit.
